How do I 'mod' a Sansui 1000x for better overall performance?

Good day ladies and gentlemen, I hope that everyone is doing very well!

I am a newbie at modding vintage receivers and the like, I apologize if I use an improper term or any phrases.
I just picked up a Sansui 1000x that looks like it just came straight off the line, no scratches, dings or dents to be found; I bought it purely because it has a great look to it and I have always preferred Sansui products and their sound.

My question has a few different points so I hope I don't confuse anyone...or myself for that matter!
I would like to replace some parts just so I don't have to worry about them for 20+ years. Also anything that can be recommended to boost the power and the quality of sound at the same time.
My other reason for wanting to mod a thing or 2 is that I listen to alot of 'hardcore' and 'nu-metal' music of which wasn't too abundant back when this piece was new.
Can anyone recommend anything I can do to make this little 1000x preform more to my style of music....if that's even slightly possible.

That's the bad thing about the convenience of newer technology, it would be cool to have wireless headphones but not at the cost of sound because it's a contradiction of terms. Not dealing with a headphone cable does not warrant the lack of audio quality. For the price you paid you could have had a great sounding pair of headphones....
 
Get something which suits your music. This Sansui is not it. Modifying a classic Sansui won't get you what you want. And devalues the Sansui. Why not a Crown DC 300a and an Crown IC 150 preamp, that will play metal loudly to your liking and is still classic and insanely well made.
 
I have a 1000X, it's likely to be the only 'receiver' I ever own. I have restored it and it has a pleasing sound, but nothing to get excited about. I accept it for what it is, you can't boost the power or increase the SQ beyond what a proper restore will give you.

I love it because it is so modest, I bought it in broken condition very cheaply on ebay, and I don't think I will ever part with it.
 
Never had one, but it looks very similar to the 2000 series in terms of boards and construction. There are a couple things one could do that might improve the low level performance, but nothing that will make it suitable for what you want to do. Measured by modern standards it's maybe 20 watts per channel, about 1/10 of what you probably need. That's limited by the transformer and the entire rest of the circuits and there isn't anything to do about it. I don't know your electronics experience and what equipment you have available, but it's certainly too nice a receiver to be learning refurbishment on.
 
Your reply is one of the 2 I was hoping I would get...advice on something that will suit my needs without the work...but I did have to ask what I did haha.

Could you tell me where the best place(s) and or websites that stock such items and are good, honest and reliable folks to do business with?

Can you suggest some caps or what have you to replace more so as maintenance, as I do not need to preform a resto? Also if there are better parts to replace the ones I would be removing, could you please fill me in on what those parts would be...such as part #, brand and what site is best to pick them up from?

I reconditioned mine a long time ago, all electrolytic capacitors need to be changed, and the output capacitors at least doubled in value, similarly with the PSU capacitors, don't change the values of any others.

I am sorry I have no detailed information for you.

That's great! I know what to change now, no need to apologize you told me exactly what I was asking.
Do you know where I could get the info needed to change these parts?
Is there anyone that could email me a copy of what I need or of a site that would have them?

The 1000x is a great receiver ,I've had mine for close to 20 years. If I were you I'd buy something else and leave the sansui alone . I was always amazed at my 1000x when it was driving double stacked large advents, sounded great with power to spare..
 
Plenty of parts sources but for caps and anything printed on it you want to replace? You need to compare the caps to the service manual (if you have one) anyway if you do just to compare values and if any ES types (orange electrolytic usually) As noted above, yes to hyperion on the cap selection. good cleaning helps on rca connections, too.

I don't have a manual for it, do you know where I can get one or download one?

I sincerely apologize, I have the Sansui AU-2200. I have no idea how the 1000X was entered, I must have been looking at one on my other screen at the time.
