How Many Amplifiers do you have?

I've only got two ears also but sometimes they are in the living room, family room, office, home gym or the shop. And I like to hoard a bit too. :D

In my situation, all my gear is basically free because I buy and sell a small bit and a portion of the profits from that have paid for all of the gear I have. My paychecks from work have never paid for any of it. :thmbsp:

Needless to say, that's why my wife doesn't mind me having this hobby especially since it's paid for a lot of the things she's wanted around the house.

Free amps and domestic tranquility! What's not to like! A purchasing model that should be more common, IMHO. Of course, I never figured out how to do that :scratch2:

I've been able to trade up to stuff I would never buy on my own. Great hobby, audio.

Ya know, maybe I don't know what I'm missing and I'm glad. I see amps like Krell and Mcintosh go for a ton of money. Then I think how much really fantastic gear I can get for what one piece of the ultra expensive stuff costs. Well, basically everything I have costs less than one of the uber expensive amps and I'm getting a f***ton of enjoyment from all of it!:D
 
^ I hear you, Rob. It comes down to the law of diminishing returns. I'd rather spend the bulk of my audio budget on top quality speakers, then let the amplification catch up over time, if need be. But I keep hearing too many testimonies about vintage amp restoration resulting in stellar performance that can rival modern amps costing 3x as much. I'd rather just restore and enjoy something classic.

I have just two power amps:
Carver TFM-35x, NAD 2200

One integrated amp: Sansui AU-719

All other duty is handled by receivers. I do have a few other integrated amps on my wish list, but for now the Sansui fills the bill.

I have 2 amps. 1 Nakamichi PA 7 and 1 Nakamichi PA 5/2. Both have served me well over many many years with trouble free operation . Great sounding amps. Rock solid units.:thmbsp:

The NAD 2200 (PE) is often overlooked due to it's basic appearance, and it's NAD name badge, however, that amp has a real David Banner complex. It's all nice and mild mannered on the surface, but if you get that thing fired up when the neighbors aren't home. it can get quite ugly ( and in a good way).
