How Many Records Do You Have?

i have about 85% of my vinyl cataloged on discogs.... and maybe 10% of my CD's and maybe 50% of my cassettes?

i listen to and collect many genres, from classic rock to jazz to country to heavy metal, but my largest single genre collection is black metal.

I have 2745 cataloged on Discogs, probably another 1500 or so to enter. Pretty much all Rock, Jazz, Funk and Soul. Have maybe 30 records in Hip-Hop, Classical and Country genre. Not counting dupes probably another 800. I have been working on my Jazz collection and have 800+. I would say 55% of my collection are thrift finds, 30% bought collections or inherited and 15% bought on-line, from record stores or record shows.

I have no idea how many I have now but having been a record collector for the last 30 years the collection has grown and shrunk many times. In the last few years I have really concentrated on quality over quantity, everything I have I would consider a great record and unless it is really rare I wont buy if not in MINT condition. I have taken in a couple of decent sized collections over the last year and keep roughly 10% of them, trading the rest in or passing them on to friends.

I have been working on cataloging the collection on discogs... will see how that works out

Discogs says I have 3,258. ( But there's two big crates in the closet that discogs doesn't know about...shhhhhh)

There's probably an additional 1000 or so 45s I need to go through and sort.

LPs are 'absolutely my favorite' medium for sound & 'feeling'.

Gave 25 M- LPs (really good albums) to the GW a while back so I guess now I have about 350 M- or so. 80% are 'specific, or special' favorites. Plenty enough for me.

(& 600 CDs, 275 to many, for sure.)

Roughly 20,000. All LP's and this doesn't count my cd collection. All are m- to mint.

I think around 1200
900 catalogued and sorted
300ish still require cleaning and cataloging
300ish that will most likely be traded and or sold off so not counted as part of my collection.

At last count which was a while ago I had around 750 so now its gotta be up over 800.

Last count was 500 but I have probably 75 to catalog. Reading all these record amounts that people have no longer makes me feel like a hoarder.

I got back into vinyl about 1 1/2 years ago and have a little over 500...maybe 550.
