DQ-10 is interesting speakers. Recently I got a pair and started to read about them. What I discovered:

* It seems everyone says DQ-10 are ONE OF THE BEST SPEAKERS EVER.

* On the other hand, their market value is only about $200-250 on eBay (granted, they very hard to ship, so local pickup only, but still).

Actually, it's not a surprise to me, as this only confirms my theory that market value and performance are two different things.

IMO, in like condition, DQ-10s should fetch MORE than Heresies. They do bass just as good, plus leave those others asking "what is imaging and can we try it too?"

There is a reason why I kept my Dahlquists while 3 different pairs of Heresies have come and gone. If a truly mint pair of 10s w/fresh woofers came up locally, I wouldn`t hesitate to lay down $500.

If I had a pair of mirror-image DQ10s, with freshly rebuilt woofers, and with crossovers and other drivers verified working correctly, in pristine condition, I wouldn't take less than $500 for the pair. And I'd just be willing to wait until that right person came along, that would appreciate them, and be willing to pay what they're actually worth. They are worth that much, if they are actually in near-line-new condition...

Gordon.

I paid $300 for mine - no stands, not in the best cosmetic condition, but I don't look at them when I am listening to their great sound. I have seen DQ-10' posted for $450 on the Dahlquist users site - don't know if they sold, but that seems to be high - then again, some people send them back to the factory and spend $1200 to get them refurbished - that has to say something about the sound of these great speakers.

To me "mint" condition means that they are absolutely perfect in every way, period end of discussion. I rarely ever see any piece of old equipment that is "mint" and ive got lots of gear here. Audiogon has a very good 1-10 system that is by far the easiest to decipher.

That's good to know and I appreciate the insight. I wish they were a bit more local than they are. As it is they are about 2.5 hours away. The thing is I'm currently looking for a good high end pair of speakers that I can keep and enjoy for a while as I've bought too many small/mid-size speakers that just don't quite do it for me. I'm considering Cornwalls, Infinity QLS and the DQ's which are by far the cheapest. Would I be just as happy with the DQ's all things considered?

All considered,it's a decent deal on a pair of great speakers......
or have you already waffled too long?

I responded several days after they were posted and he told me I was the first to inquire...I want to audition the Infinity QLS before I jump on the DQ's....

I haven't heard either but have heard some pretty good reviews on the dq-10's. Not too many on here have the infinity's but i am sure they are great speakers as well. What are you going to be powering them with? If i am not mistaken they both like high wattage amps to really shine.

Correction on market value:
Yesterday nice pair of DQ-10 (with stands) sold on eBay $510 plus $100 shipping. (not mine)

If they actually required shipping.

Items offered in a large metropolitan area will often be won by those who can easily pick them up so I wouldn't necessarily consider the shipping in the actual-value equation. :thmbsp:

Another correction of market value:
Yesterday nice pair of DQ-10 (with stands) sold on eBay $610 with local pickup. (not mine)
So my previous assumption of market value was too low.
