That is cool. Interesting how they charge the magnet. Doesn't look like they shimmed the voice coil while attaching the cone. The sequence of assembly was not what I expected.
 
The tube has really grown up as there are many practical video's and not just total crap. Good source of info for everyone including us audio nuts.
I'm not a complete novice, but don't have near the knowledge of many others here. When I search on YouTube it's not always easy to find the really good stuff, vs. the OK but not great stuff. in most cases, the crap stuff isn't that hard to identify.

We've got a Speaker Sticky about reference threads, and I think a sticky about useful/good/practical/how-to videos would make another good sticky.

Although I admit some doubt about where to post things... does great video on re-foaming go here or in DIY?

At any rate, a thread listing great videos seems like it would be very helpful. As an example, someone listed a YouTube video on Soldering by Pace. There are a ton of videos on soldering, but I thought these were great. Only found them by chance being mentioned in a thread.
 
Things are a little different where I worked. The top and back plates are stamped from coil stock instead of being cut from a rod and milled. The core/backplate and the basket/top plate are staked instead of screwed although some baskets get screws also.

The soft parts go a little different too. Coils are wound beforehand and the tinsel lead is already attached so you don't have to put a soldering iron on the cone. The first station of the final production line is a 2 step where the coil and spider are attached using a gauge to set the depth correctly. It is also the shim for the coil. Then the assembly is glued in the basket. Next is the cone and the tinsel leads are lead through holes already punched for them and they're attached to the terminals. Then dust cap and gasket are put on. Then it hits the magnetizer. Putting it at the end means tool aren't sticking to it all the way down the line. At the end of the line is an oven called The Demon that cures the water based adhesives.

From there they go through a test booth where they are all swept by ear and a certain percentage are measured and then they are packed up.

There are lots of different ways to do it, that's how we did. As an engineer in the lab I was required to work every job on the floor when I first started. There were some jobs that I just could not keep up with. If I had been there for a final line job I wouldn't have made it through the first 2 weeks. :)

Yeah, I've been to dozens and dozens of speaker factories, helped design a few, and I have never seen anything remotely like the process shown in that YouTube vid. It's very strange and really slow.
