Now for the reality World, any other ideas? Don't need 8 channels maybe only two.

Recently we've replaced the venerable SYS2722 with the AP APx585 HDMI Analyzer which tests up to 8 channels, and is much easier to use. Ever since using the APx585 we've been able to apply a consistent measurement test suite to each amp and receiver we've measured on it which is outlined below. The APx585 doesn't come cheap. In fact the version we have represents a $40k investment.

What are you trying to do? See how an amp you purchased performs? Validate that the work you did? See how mods performed? Start a repair shop?

If it's for personal use, spend $200 on a plug in spectrum analyzer and call it good.

I see that most electronic test equipment manufacturers built Audio Analyzers. I don't believe these other units are software driven? But are there any good ones of these?

Are they simply spectrum analyzers?

I see these most wonderful graphs that Audio Precision can produce, I would think this is due to it's interface to Windows. These appear to be easy to understand. It is one thing to capture accurate data and another to process this data into a user friendly format. For example:

I recently purchased the complete set of PEAK test units. The DCA75 PRO has this ability to provide graphs to the computer. To understand those graphs appears to be a mystery here on AK.

In looking at used Audio Precession Audio Analyzers they have many models and options. Looking for a roadmap to shed light on the sequence of these models and options?

You can get good results economically by using a good quality USB-audio interface and inexpensive or free software. I've got an Alesis IO2 and using it with Visual Analyzer can get most of the measurements you wish to perform.
