The Porsche - there's only 1 room in the house that could really take the XRT2Ks, unless I took over the basement for a listening room. Besides, I need a new car. Wonder how a bike rack would look on the Porsche ... :scratch2:
 
The 911!

Have plenty of McIntosh already enjoy what I have but have been seriously interested in a 911.

I'd take the McIntosh equipment over the Porsche any day as I would get a lot more use out of the speakers/amps.
 
I look at it like this:

how many years of enjoyment would you get out of the
1: porshe: maybe 10, or even less when you get too much speeding tickets. After 10 years, that porshe is completely passé and the new version will be so much cooler. Final point, the resale value of the porshe will decrease and will keep decreasing.

2: The Mc setup: years of enjoyment: until they fall apart, which will take a few nature disasters, and then still take quite a while. In 10 years there will probably be new Mc's too (and maybe even more powerful ones (8KW??? :D)) but your Mc's won't be passé. And that resale value will still be enough by then :)

that's just my opinion :D

I've had fast cars when I was younger and I drove them insanely (I can't believe I'm still alive). Now all that is out of my system and I drive like grandpa. :D

I still love music though, so I would take the McIntosh. :yes:

Well with Porsche the rules are a little different. The people that buy Porsches are a lot like the people that buy Mc’s and the cars don't depreciate like other brands. My last sale I actually made 25% after enjoying it for nearly four years! These cars will continue to be relevant way longer than 10 years and the early 930’s have a strong following. The way the audio industry is going only two channel equipment will have any kind of reasonable resale value. And even that stuff see’s is a significant drop in price on the used market – often 40+%. Neither of these is a good investment and shouldn’t be thought of as one. They are just something to enrich our lives and pity be the wallet of the person with a passion for both. :cry:
 
This is a great poll. I just got a new 911 C2S about 6 weeks ago, and I have two new-for-me MC501's in transit to me this week. Certainly not up to 911 Turbo or MC2KW standards, but at least I'm not having to choose either or.

As for how I voted, I went for the Turbo since I don't have any place in my house that the XRT2K's would fit.

I've owned all models of Porsche since 1970 and they lost me when they went for the really cheap looking interiors.

I like Mac but I don't like monster amps thinking if someone can make a good 2000w $60K amp they should be able to make a killer 50 watt amp to partner with a really fine custom made horn loudspeaker.

In short I'd go with a Turbo 993 --- much more fun than your new car that looks like a Tokyo bordello at night on the inside...

I'll take a MC275 and commission Bruce Edgar to build me some massive horns.

The rest of the money goes to Habitat --- lets not be greedy...
 
As much as I'd love the Porsche, I gotta vote Mac...

That said, I might "trade down" to a smaller Mac system and then drive it home in a $45k vehicle...how's that for a compromise :)
