I did 109 MPH Yesterday evening...Whats the Fastest You've ever Driven?

180 mph, Ferrari Enzo, Buttonwillow raceway. As a passenger in the same car, with a pro driving, he was able to get 5 mph more out of it than I was - 185 mph.

bs

speed

90mph. on a straight stretch. Drove from Anch. Ak. to Vegus. Straight strech was in Nev. Oh ya, was driving a 33 ft. class A motorhome pulling a trailor with a vech. on back. scared the crap out of me when the rear left inner tire blew. Ran over a piece of 2by 4. Shereded the tire and lifted the floor in the bath 5 in. Decided to slow down. The guy i was driving the mh for was sitting in the passenger seat. Just kind of looked at me and laughed. By the way, me was 80 whew!

I got my MPV up to an indicated 105 once.

Just curious - only one poster has noted (admitted) that their top speed was verified by an officer of the law, a few presumably timed at a drag strip - any more that were confirmed by a cop?

In addition to my bike shenanigans, I've also done 180+ on the Thalys in France. Which i guess doesn't really count, but it was fun reading the paper, waiting for dinner, and watching out the window, all in a nice, wide seat :)

If you ever take a high speed train in France, opt for first class. Trust me :)

Yea... I got to spend most of a day in the Palm Beach County jail for 120+ on the Florida Turnpike. Verified by the arresting FHP officer.

If you HAVE to spend time in jail the Palm Beach County facility is as nice as you can hope for.

I've hit triple digit speeds in several of my vehicles but it was years ago. I still like to lay some rubber once in a while, but high speed no longer interests me.

I was once a passenger in a Camaro Z-28 when we hit 140+ on a highway at night. I don't need to experience that again.

My 99 outback topped out at 110mph, then, going downhill, I hit the fuel shutoff (or something). . .

That's what it was. Engine controllers are programmed to cut off fuel at the maximum speed rating of the factory tires.

We had a guy that routinely hit it in a Jeep Wrangler. I think that one bumped out at about 102 MPH with the 4.0L. He always laughed and said the front end felt a little light.

I wasn't going to ask when I noticed that the ticket was written for less!

My Dad got a ticket for "Only" 110 once in South Carolina in his 280 SEL 4.5-And he THANKED the cop. I think he said he was ACTUALLY going closer to 125-130...

Around 160 in an AMG Mercedes, but only for a few seconds. I drove through Montana at around 100-110 before they changed the law. I found out later the cops didn't consider over 90 mph "reasonable and prudent" so I lucked out not getting stopped. I've raced go karts at up to around 95. When your butt is three inches off the ground, 95 feels much faster than in a car.

Most of the vehicles named would not go as fast as claimed if you dropped them out of a plane. Just sayin'...

I got a ticket for 102 in an 1974 MGB. My foot was on the floor, on a flat highway. I drove a 2002 Q45 about 130, without confirmation by law enforcement.

depends if you're assuming stock or not. Also, it does depend on the reading method. Speedometers are not particularly accurate, and tend to be a little generous over 60 or so. I have seen 115 on my GPS in the Mark VII though. The Towncar I have run over 120 on the GPS. The grille dislodges between 120 and 125, so thats my ludicrous speed indicator. The whistle noise from the hood ornament starts at 100. Speedo pegs at 85.
