I need suggestions for scary movies.

Hush Hush Sweet Charlotte was a creepy flick. Saw it for the first time in the early 70's and couldn't bring myself to watch it again for 20 years.

The Changeling (with George C Scott) - good old fashion ghost story. Not to be confused with that new movie of the same name, with a totally different story.

"Don't Look Now," 1973 a Nic Roag film, some might call it a chick flick horror movie. Also might try " Picnic at Hanging Rock," a good film from down under.

The Paranormal Activity series is one of the few to really creep me out.

Like watching Night Gallery late at night, alone when I was 12 years old.

I didn't see this mentioned, sorry if it already has been. If you want to see a movie you won't soon forget, get The Human Centipede. It will leave you with a haunting that takes a while to get rid of. Truly the first movie in a long long time that I found disturbing.

+1 for The Changeling. Very good '70s ghost story.

I'll add one I just saw that is both scary, and creepy. A disturbed mind had to write this one.

Splice (Adrian Brody). It's new within the last couple years. This one gave me bad dreams. That's not easy. The Ring (American) did, too.

Here's 3 suggestions

Carnival of Souls (maybe more creepy than scary)
Suspiria (the soundtrack by the group Goblin really sets the tone!)
Mute Witness (very underrated thriller)

This one really messed with my head. I have to say, they just went for it and didn't worry about what people thought. I suppose that is worth something. I did think it had a lot more thought put into it than the SAW type gorefests. I don't think I have the stomach to watch the second one. Unfortunately my wife keeps shaming me into it. We'll probably give it a try eventually.

I need to find another movie that can actually scare me, so I'm digging this thread. The gore fest type movies never did the trick for me.

You should give Eraserhead a try. I liked the Mothman Prophecies too.

The uncut, original Exorcist.

Also, The Thing with Kurt Russell and the 1st Alien

"In space, no one can hear you scream"

28 Days Later is a very well done horror movie and I can't believe no one has mentioned Hellraiser (talk about a demented movie).

I’d recommend Clive Barler’s Hellraiser and Hellraiser II which picks up where Hellraiser I ends. Very creepy story line and no gimmicky gotchas.

Watched it last night. Can't say it really scared me but that was some pretty twisted ****, no doubt about it.
