I now have an AU-X1

Oh w-o-w. It's a beast.
How you going to power it up? Step up trans?
Congrats. It will keep you busy for quite a while ... Restoring & Listening.
Robert.

Hi John,
I meant ... Step down trans?

Yes a step down, - bought from 'Airlink Transformers', who are very local to me, I got the 1.5kW version.

...Congratulations , John - the right Amp in the right Hands....

Thank you Deubi, that's a very nice thing to say ;)

Congratulations John. I know you are going to make it shine again. Probably SANSUI's best amp EVER.

Thank you John, I will do my level best, now I actually have one close-up I can see what you say is absolutely true, performance was everything.

Awesome John, congratulations.
Take your time with this beauty.

Regards

Thank you Harold, I will take my time, I have printed your excellent thread in its entirety (in colour) as a reference, your careful work was an inspiration to everyone - not least me.

Congrats to a proud owner! I feel sure that your benefactor thinks you deserve it.

Perhaps the sound will sparkle a wee bit more when you meticulously remove the years of accumulated dust.

congratulations John...looking forward to your impressions once you've worked your magic on her...I'm curious what speakers you'll run with such a beast ...I bet a nice pair of British two-ways would just vanish when you tether them to the finished article.. Have fun...so pleased you've landed one. :beerchug:

Thanks melofelo, I have a pair of Q Acoustics 3050 that I will be using with all my amplifiers including the AU-X1.

The AU-X1 is a serious piece of Sansui engineering. Just stuffed to the gills with big transformers, caps, and heat sinks. If one ever came my way for a resonable price I'd snatch it up in a heartbeat! Congrats on the score! They are a rare beast. Cheers and happy listening! :music:
