If You Crossed Enigma With Brian Eno...

DesertRatt

All Bark, No Bite!
I'm trying to discover if there is a genre that lies between Enigma and Brian Eno. I love the density and mysticality of Enigma, and I love the unpredictability of Eno's ambient music (noise).

Any ideas?

I love Enigma and just a little of Eno because like you said noise but you can find gems. I think you'll like what I class as new world music and or old world style, music we get in al lot of sound tracks at times.

That's very nice. Love that voice. But a bit more traditional than I was looking for. But, thank you, I will probably get that CD! She's a dream!

P.S. I'd referring to Lorena!

If you like Enigmas Gregorian chant style...there was a band put together to do live shows and albums. They do lot's of cover songs in this style.

Originally, Gregorian was conceived as a more pop-oriented group in the vein of Enigma. Under this concept, they recorded the 1991 album Sadisfaction, with lead vocals provided by The Sisters of Oz: Susana Espelleta (Peterson's wife at the time) and Birgit Freud. However, this was the only album in that style.

In 1998, Peterson and his team of Jan-Eric Kohrs, Michael Soltau and Carsten Heusmann re-invented the project to perform popular songs in the Gregorian style.

But - have you heard Solyma?
Here is the 1st track of the album - very much like Enigma.

Hey, keep it coming guys. An area I'm trying to explore is lying between music and noise. Music of course follows well established concepts like scales, chords, time signatures,
progressions, harmony, tempo and so on. Noise is free to ignore much of that, but still be organized around an idea. Noise can be from instruments, electronic, industrial, or common, and can offer more mystery and freedom to experiment.

I like Brian Eno, and Harold's Budd - ambient music - because they detach from the usual time structure. Now I'm wondering what might like just beyond that.

My appreciation of Enigma and DCD, is more about the exotic dark layered nature of their music and vocals.

These groups are all part of a pastiche of sound that I enjoy. I'm not crazy about dance, trance, dub, edm because they are just too beat driven, which doesn't wear well at 2 am on headphones!

Anyway, I'm enjoying all these samples! Thanks again!

This has the makings of a great thread. I'm a big Eno fan. I see that I have some exploring to do.

I liked that one Heather, as soon as it started it reminded me of some music I found.

I had to start a thread to find out who did it, because this audio system vid just use the music but no listing about the music.

Leave it to AKers

Koyaanisqatsi - finale (film by Godfrey Reggio, music by Philip Glass)

Dang, saw Kitaro in Baltimore ages ago - about the time of "The Light of the Spirit".
Also saw Andreas Vollenweider twice - once at Merriweather Post Pavilion during his initial 4 albums ...
and in 2006 at the Barns of Wolftrap ...
