Not unfair at all. Literally, all it's doing is placing the bid you would have made anyway. The reason to use sniping s/w is that it lets you place your bid exactly when you want to, even though you're out to dinner with the wife. That's all. It just clicks the mouse for you.
Depends on how you look at it, you are looking at it from one perspective, but not another. Fairness as I see is people bidding by using the methods provided by ebay to place bids on an auction, not some automated program that comes along and does it for you within the last 5 seconds of an auction, it may as well be a BIN auction. I understand the concept and have used it in the past but I see it as a form of cheating.
Fairness is not measured by how low of a winning bid you can put in. Sniping is fair game.
Sniping allows you to conduct business without leaving time for anyone to figure out what you're up to.... by then the auction is over.Yes after googling the subject even ebay endorses it, of course they do, anything that helps the bidder helps the ebay pocket book.
Makes total sense. I can't remember my account with my selected sniper site, i've emailed them for a reset, the stakes for this item just went up!
That too! Keep in mind, I never mentioned anything about sniping in my original post, somehow it just wound up all about sniping.
Impossible! Technically, I think you meant to say "...helps the seller...", since the seller pays the fees from his proceeds.
On the other hand, those of us who do use it, use it because of two reasons: It helps us win more auctions, and pay less for them. So, from that perspective, it costs eBay money.
I'm going to reiterate, again, something I've said a hundred times: "It doesn't matter how you place your bid, the highest bid placed wins, 100% of the time, period."
Period.
Here's the funny part; every time somebody starts a thread casting sniping in a negative light, all of us who snipe exclusively start trying to change the poster's mind. When, in reality, we should just shut the hell up.
So, you just go right on using eBay's proxy bidding service, or clicking the mouse manually. :thmbsp:![]()
Awright, I gotta finish my taxes. See yuz!
Don't forget to 'snipe' your taxes. Get 'em in seconds before the deadline...
It's legal and within the rules....![]()
