Interesting speakers

I have a pair of soundtubes, that have a sort of similar top design, but a different base. I have never found much information on them, but I think they sound pretty good. To me they sound better than the other omni-directional designs I have tried. The ones you have posted appear to be a newer model, than the ones I have.


Even though there designed to be an outdoor model, they sound surprisingly good. I have only used mine indoors. The construction is very unique, in that the cabinent / (tube) is made out of a collapsible pvc material. The bass drivers almost fires out of (for lack of better terms) into a balloon. Its an interesting design, that in my opinion sounds much better than it should.

Those look like speakers used in large stores, convention centers, restaurants. etc. that hang from the ceiling. Can't imagine they would be too appropriate for pinpoint stereo listening.

Yes I believe willyrover is correct on those. There are a couple of restaurants here that have those hanging from the ceiling. Somewhere a while ago I found a thread on them from google. Can`t seem to find it now but I know it`s out there. Soundtubes are completely different than those.

The pair I posted, is also designed to hang side down. I'n my previous research, I have seen this done before. The frame you see in my pics, is only there to expand the PVC tube. The floor standing structure, was a option.


It's defiantly the same company that produced both these models.

Can I assume by "pinpoint" stereo listening you mean imaging ? If so you might/might not be right. I certainly can't say for sure as I've never had any personal experience with those specific speakers.

However, my personal experiences with omnidirectional speakers, Ohm Walsh 5's and Walsh 2's specifically, would suggest that omnidirectional speakers image just fine.

Klama2006, judging by all that I see in your pictures it looks like you're a fan of omni....

Those remind me of the old BIC "soundspans". The tweeter pod atop that wedding cake looks like to be comprised of the peerless ct62.

Cool. I recognize the Ohm Walsh, and maybe some JBL (Aquarius??) speakers there. The rest are a mystery to me. Enlighten me. Better yet, maybe you could PM and send me some bigger pix and expanded descriptions.

Furthest left, are the Bic Soundspans, next are the Soundtubes, followed by the JBL Aquarius, and then the Ohms. In front of the group are the JVC Soundsticks. Out of this group, the Soundtubes sound the best, and the Aquarius sound the worst. . (to me)
