Is great soundstaging at low volume possible?

Yes, it is possible. My Sansui 4000 keeps it's soundstaging, and it's tonal quality at low volume, and so does my McIntosh MA 5100.

My buddy wanted me to sell his Rogers LS3/5's for him. I polished them up and took photos...and then I hooked them up to my 40 WPC amp and just listened to them on the front edge of my coffee table. OMG! One of the most wonderful experiences I've had in audio in 20 years.

Shoutout to this guy. After nearly 2 years of screwing around, I finally had a big come up on 3 pair of OMD-5's for a ridiculously good price and, wound up with this perdicament:

The attached are no longer available, but interesting if you want a "3 D" sound...a lot of used available by various makers in omni directional types.....Also consider smaller efficient speakers with high dynamic range as they tend to fill room better at lower volumes. I own the OMD 5s. At one time I thought of getting an entire system, but now use for a small spare room.I mention Mirage as just an example of the genre....Exquisite rosewood finish on mine.
