ah ok my mistake .. its the way i looked at d30 at the bottom . i never noticed the second one up as thought the 0v was both ends ..
No worries...ill pick up a new MM and get back with the dc readingsah ok my mistake .. its the way i looked at d30 at the bottom . i never noticed the second one up as thought the 0v was both ends ..
Awesome to have you part of the thread Mark!!You will probably find that investing in a decent meter will help a lot. Not just in terms of features but also testing accuracy .
I found an audible continuity test was really useful as was built-in transistor testing.
I'm following this thread with interest so good luck in getting your 7800 going - I just sold mine....
Again, do we have a corresponding part number you are talking about?now find those U shaped heat sinks fastened to 2 transistors and see what DC voltages are there . voltage should be on the heat sinks so this shouldn't be difficult
not yet we dont ..So we have +63V on Q34 collector and -63V on Q35 collector. Check DC voltages on test point 15 and test point 21
Both test point 15 and test point 21 have DC readings of 0.00So we have +63V on Q34 collector and -63V on Q35 collector. Check DC voltages on test point 15 and test point 21
Are the 2 transistors with the Ushaped heat sinks... are they on the power supply board? Along w/ these fuses?not yet we dont ..![]()
right at the bottom of this picture .. see the 3 legs on the transistors ?okay I think I "may" have found the 2 transistors with the heatsinks on them... are they tan shaped with one of them between the 4 diodes? Here is a picture with them circled...

So you have 6V on d31 cathode (or Q38 emitter). Find Q38 and read voltage on his basefyi, Zener's Diode (from marks thread) which is the diode which is closest to pin 15... striped side DC is 5.9v
right on the U shaped metal part ..Okay so you mean these? What is the best ways to measure the DC voltage on these? On solder side or top?

63.4 on the right one.... and -64.8 on the leftright on the U shaped metal part ..
okay any idea what Q38 looks like? Is it a capacitor? transistor? diode? So you have 6V on d31 cathode (or Q38 emitter). Find Q38 and read voltage on his base
