Anyone ever have a listen to Italian audio. Just looking around for a possible new tube amp wanting something in a 845.
Would have to wire in a 220 outlet for this though.

Simply Enzo. A well tuned 23 watts. Class A. I bet it sounds very good. Would like to hear it driving the Altec 19s that I used to own. I can almost hear it playing Beach Boys Shut Down. Speaking sound quality, crank it up crank it up buddy now I shut you down.

Haven't listened to that one much- but as i have mentioned before elsewhere, I was VERY impressed with the hybrid Unison Unico 150 integrated amp (tube preamp, solid-state power). That amp could almost hold its own with the venerable VAC Sigma 170i iQ. For about half the money. Just impeccable tonal balance, great dynamics and great build quality.

And, also importantly- the people who import these to the USA- Fidelity Imports- is a very stand-up bunch of people. Service is very good. They are careful to pick good dealers, and stand behind their products.

Regards,
Gordon.

Hey there Mopardave ,
I haven't heard any of the 845 amps you referenced,
but I did do a comparison with a 90+lb Cary 845 stereo amp
with my custom made transformer coupled 300b amp and,
a custom 45/2a3 stereo amp.
A little summary Using my 604G's Markwart x-overs, Similar efficiency to your M19's
and either an ARC Sp3a, or Fisher cx400 pre.
Best sound by far is the RCA45's,
followed closely by the RCA 2a3's more heft at the bottom
with the loss of a bit soundstage and detail.
followed by the 300b amp. Obviously more Balls,Good Bass,
but great mids as expected.
last was the Cary 845. Bass and output was total overkill.
Strong everywhere. But not anywhere as satisfying as the other amps.
Just for S&G I hooked up the 845 amp to my Notoriously Power hungry JBL 4430's
Just Wow! 22 Watts SET, I never heard those 4430's sound so good!
Those 22 watts sounded like 120 Watts.
BTW My amp builder won't repair Most Big High Voltage amps. Lethal Voltages.
Keep the Cats and Children away.o_O

You could contact Paul at Apollo Audio in the Seattle area. He has built 845 SE amps among many others. I heard his 833 monster SE amps this fall. They were so clean yet liquid. Around 80 watts and up to 120W with higher distortion numbers. Here's one of his 845 builds.

His commercial venture has a 211 SE amp listed for sale at 40W.

I have to add a disclaimer that I am aquainted with Paul personally so there you go. I don't own any of his amps but have built a couple of his publicly shared SE designs.

Can't comment on Italian audio, but there is a Ducati tube amp from the late 40s that's been on ebay for a while that I am enamored with.

never listened but have had a long-distance infatuation with lector DAC and phono amp.
