Oh boy, you are in deep! Beautiful deck. My updated (fully recapped) RS-1500 is my favorite deck. Like yours, original black toggles were replaced with silvers (from Pioneer). The one thing I notice though is that your headstack has no selector switch. Is this just a 2-track head? Is it wired for direct output to an external preamp?
I had a complete rebuild of the 1500, with every possible electronic upgrade (excepting cosmetics) . The 1506 is pending..Have both of your Technics decks been fully re-capped at J-Corder? At this point in time, all RS series decks have bad caps in them.

"Complete rebuild" is a loose term and very subject to interpretation. If someone says that, it does not guarantee that all or any electrolytic caps were replaced in the deck. Only if your repair invoice says "replaced all electrolytics". If it says "complete rebuild", then you don't know for sure. Best is to get a bag of the old caps returned with the deck. You should specify that with your 1506. There are over a hundred caps in that deck.
returning old parts means NOTHING!! I learned that in the auto repair trade - which I quit !!!
note I said (wrote) AUTO - **NOT** AUDIOYou know, I am really thinking about quitting myself. It's getting much too frustrating.
