He was flying in a remote area 60 miles north of Santa Barbara, California.

This really upsets me. I loved his music soundtracks, Field of Dreams, Braveheart, Titanic, Aliens, Avatar, The Rocketeer, Star Trek..........and on and on.

Star Trek 2 has always been one of my favorite movies and scores. I remember it being the first time that I said to myself "Where can I get the music from that movie?" He went on to score many of my favorite movies. I am really going to miss him.

I had to look him up on IMDB to see how many credits he had. I didn't realize that he pretty much wrote the score to my childhood! Land Before Time, The Rocketeer, Star Trek II & III, etc.

He was one of the greats.

A sad end for such a talented man. I wonder about what happened- the airplane is a high performance aerobatic type and he was in a remote area. Maybe he was performing stunts or similar moves and got into trouble.

I can't believe I didn't even hear about this until now. James Horner is one of my favorite modern-day movie composers. Geez... I'm stunned, and speechless. RIP Mr. Horner.

Horner - could there be a more appropriate surname for a composer? The man was truly born to make music. His passing is very sad news, and a loss of us all.

Condolences to those closest to him, on their loss, which is of course much greater than that of us who only knew his music.

Rest in Peace, Mr. Horner. Thanks for the melodies, which will live on at least as long as those of us who grew up with those soundtracks remain alive.
