Gazeuse! is, far and away, my favorite Gong record. The music and musicianship are superb,and Allan Holdsworth fits seamlessly into this remarkable lineup. Pierre Moerlen's compositions and drumming are also nothing short of brilliant

what an incredible little, postage stamp sized club The Cellar Door used to be. Even when seated in the balcony, it seemed like you could almost drop something right on the stage. As this recording done by Miles there indicates, it drew absolutely top shelf, world class acts to perform there, and tickets to such shows weren't easy to come by. I was fortunate enough to see dozens of shows there, but none more rousing than the night of my 25th birthday, when Brand X- Phil Collins, John Goodsall, Percy Jones, and Robin Lumley- absolutely scorched the place. Hence, the record below, which is as much of a staple for me as Gazeuse!

I need to listen to "Evil" more often. McLaughlin really tears it up on the second disc (as well as the first). I hear what your saying about the size of the Cellar just by the sound of "Evil".

Must have been a killer show with Brand X. I recently aquired Unorthodox Behavior & will give it a spin this weekend. I also picked up Moroccan Roll. Both should be a great listen to say the least!
 
If you've never listened to Unorthodox Behaviour, you're in for one hell of a treat. All players on the record are crazy good, and you simply haven't heard Collins play to his potential until you hear it. Enjoy

and that was a show for the ages when they played The Door. They stepped onstage, said their hellos, and launched into a beautiful,brutally intense set. Totally no nonsense, blunt force power, much like original Mahavishnu Orchestra type intensity. To say they were tight simply isn't enough...if that band had farted, only the dogs would have heard it

I am familiar with this lp though. I listen to fusion internet radio stations all day at work and hear this lp quite often. But now on the big JBL's make it killer!!
