Hey everyone! I just picked up a gorgeous pair of wood veneer (not black vinyl) JBL 4410's all original in perfect condition...any thoughts, opinions, information on these guys? Just curious...
Until the foam surrounds gave out...I wasn't driving them too hard but I guess it was hard enough. Not surprising though. The foam was original. Anything special about refoaming these guys?
One did and one didn't.Yeah, the titanium tweeters in these fellas are absolutely amazing! BMWCCA how did you get the metal frame of the woofer so clean? Did the glue come off that easily?

One did and one didn't.
I used Goo-Gone and made some scraper tools out of Popsicle sticks to scrape the glue without harming the frame. Getting them that clean isn't really critical. Scraping the surround residue from the back of the cone is more important and for that I carefully used an Xacto knife with the curved blade.

Glueing it to the back first, and then to the frame worked for me. There's stronger solvents than Goo-Gone, for sure. If it doesn't work, try some others. Cut the Popsicle stick into an edge like a chisel. Also, any tricks to getting the surround UNDER the cone? I've never done a refoam with the surround mounted under the cone...
