Refinishing the cabs is relatively easy compared to designing and building xovers. :yes: This is the second time I've done this but these were in much worse condition than the first pair I refinished. I have some ADS L980's that need work but they will get the black texture treatment like John applied to his stage monitors. They currently have a black plastic like coating that's too scratched up to save.

Nope, and nobody I recognize there, either, though it'd be fun to meet more from around here. I'll see if the WiredGuy wants to go with eWaves and Indignias; no way would the ZilchMobile make it there and back.

Cool. I'm still looking at a day for a visit. I'm traveling to the East Coast on business in early November and as soon as I have that locked down I'll get back to you. It would be nice if I get out of it but early Nov is better than Dec or Jan. :yes:

I went ahead and tried the clear coat on the horns. I used Krylon clear satin #1311. The instructions say it's good on plastic. I could have spent more time working out the blemishes, but I can always go back if I get the urge. The one on the left has been coated.

So far I am impressed with the outcome. No black paint needed and it is the original color when done.

Rick, did you clean your L-pads and if so what's the process?

B, so you used 0000 steel wool first? So they are not painted but black all the way through? Would the Deft satin spray have worked? It came out very nice. :yes:

No no no.

I have a crack in one of my 4430 butt cheeks and they are definately grey under the black. You can even see it in this picture on the lower left butt cheek. I assume the 4425s would be of similar construction.

I'm not seeing it. I'm still not sure either way but the screw holes in mine are a shiny black which leads me to believe they are black all the way through. I originally thought they were painted. The 4425 and 4430 could be different. Todd got a close up?

I've used contact adhesive to reattach the foil-cal's, worked well. For the black paint I used Rustoleum Satin Black spray. I used the flat black with the Deft satin spray. I bet the satin black worked just as well and cost less. I'll use the contact spray I have to attach the foilcal. As soon as I drop my kids off at school I'll be out in my garage working on the speakers.
