mystery amp

Morning All I did a little searching and found a ebay listing (no not mine ) for the mystey amp . How would these used ? ebay Item number: 250139468449, Next thing I need to do is go to the bank so I can go and pay the balance on them, WHERE O WHERE AM I GONNA PUT /STORE THEM???? I really didnt sleep very goodlast night wondering what to do with them and if i can get them into my truck in one trip (got a cap ) I will try to get some pics today of them apart , englissa
 
Congratulations!

As has been mentioned, condition will be a major determining factor as far as the eventual value. If it's got some veneer issues, do a search here on veneering, and/or have a local cabinet maker take a look and give you an estimate or some advice on how to repair it where it's coming apart.

And get it inside where the temp and humidity will stabilize.

I have an appox 800 sq ft house, with furniture, and a lot of FINE COLLECTIBLES I am just beside my self at the moment where am I gonna store them, Yes I understand condition is everything Their is some veneer missing from the top of the curved piece I;m gonna say condition is good as their are some issures with them,Kinda of having second thoughts about buying but got caught up in the excitement englissa
 
Common guys I haven paid for them yet and you want pics, battries are charging and I will put pics up later today,, I just talked to a friend of mine who has a 50x60 ft garage which I help build and I can put them there for the moment but I do need to get them inside someplace , englissa
 
go to the heritage site above and read about the paragon and see where they say as an option you could get JBL amps to drive them. If they're orig. JBL option amps he got a treasure.
 
the ebay amps he listed are southwest technical products 207A mono amps.
5 of em all tested and working. someone AKr may want them.

As far as what they are for, they're simply power amps
 
Here's some links. SWTP started with kits for electronics products, built a very early SS amp kit notoriously called the Tigersaurus which was, IIRC, pretty unstable and hard to keep alive. Then there were other amps which I guess were a bit better, and then they started into the fledgling small PC hobbyist era of the late 70's (like Apple, IMSAI, PET, etc).

And here's some info on the specific amp that you alluded to in this post. Personally, although the amps may be OK, I'd not assume they're very good or worth much, maybe to a collector?

There is a later version called the 270B and seems to have some improvements although from the pic in the later catalog they didn't change the number on the faceplate?

OK Now that I have them at my buddies here are a couple pics, their not that great but I see if i can get some better ones in a few days,I found a couple legs that were inside the big horns, how many are their supposed to be If I may ask, think I may be missing a pair, Had a thought I know that is scary ,since I'm cramped could you stack one on top of the outher and run them that way ? I know it wont look too good but i dont see where it would harm them ? englissa

HOLY MOTHERLODE!!!

No, I'm not talking about the SWTP Amps. Its picture no. 3. That's a photo of a JBL SE402 Solid State Energizer. Its one of JBL's first SS power amps used as an integrated power amp for a speaker. I can't even find anything on it yet except a relationship to the more common SE400 SS Energizer on JBL Pro Customer service. I suspect its an active equalized crossover amp? Zilch will have to help me out. Here's a link to the manual for the SE400:

This manual will tell you how to hook it up.
This means your Paragons are one of the more rare versions that is self powered. The amp is usually a fair amount alone.

"SE400S is silicon transistors, with "T" circuit. Earlier SE401 is germanium, as I recall.
My SE402, the installed version, is EQ'd for an 080 system, whatever the heck that was. Extremely rare, no doubt.
And I'm sure the germanium sounds better to discerning ears.
BUT, I'm representing the buyer here....

The JBL 080 system of Dual 150-4 and 375 is the Paragon type load except one woofer per channel.

From Dave (norealtalent) on LH in a subsequent post:
"From the CA-400, Instruction booklet for the JBL solid state energizer,
"*The two models are identical in operation. Model SE401 is supplied for installation in existing JBL enclosures. When the Energizer is factory-installed, it is designated SE402."

It wasn't the extra amps but the amp already built into the Paragon that is the true icing on the cake. CONGRATS AGAIN!!!

mech986 Yes i saw where a power cord plugs into it with a reset or something, I dont really know that much about them, I will have to get better pics tomorrow when my friend is home to help me move them around englissa
 
Yeah, well, I've apparently got one of those, too.

If I stuck it in the Paragon, the selling price would go up a couple of grand, probably.

Don't plug that in, Englissa.... :nono:

zilch are you saying not to plug them when i go to test them ? will they work without being pluged in ?
