Hi- what is the difference between the Century/Decade and L series? Example Decade 36 vs L36? Is one better than the other? Any help is appreciated!

Hi Josh,
I think it has to do with the era/year. I could be mistaken... I know JBL would use "A" for there upgraded models, for example L-110A and L-150A.
Im sure someone on the site will jump on and school us.
JBL are great speakers, have owned a few sets myself.. (see aviator)
. There are better speakers out, but JBL is just a classic.

Not positive about the 36 series but the L-26 and Decades were the same speaker.

I can say that the 36 is a three way version of the 26, which is a two way speaker. I have a pair of the 26's (with the brown grilles) and don't feel I'm missing out on much.

If we're talking speakers and you are talking about a JBL L-26 and I'm talking about JBL L-26 Decade, we're both talking about the same speaker. Please note that I've never seen the term "Decade" used without a L- n6 number before it.I believe "Decade" was a series identifier and the L-n6 was a model designation, not unlike the Chevy Super Sport. It could be an Impala or a Chevelle and, I believe, a Chevy !!/Nova as well
What you're *missing* is what I find to be a "fun house mirror" imaging effect caused by the horribly variable directivity of the Locanthi designed three-ways.

They made at least two different versions, the original L100 with the drivers in a straight line, and the L100A with an offset tweeter and midrange. Oddly, both are identified on the front as "L100 Century", for some reason, as seen with my L100As:

I think I worded that goofy. I know the "L" is simply the series. I was more less trying to figure out what Century & Decade meant, as I've seen models displaying both.
