The move to the new server is done. There are some software and database maintenance updates in process. This has us passing the hat around to help out. We appreciate any donations. Seriously, even a dollar helps. The payment page may be found here - https://www.audiokarma.org/support.html
I have a line on a pair for $200, so I thought I'd check them out. I just want to make sure I'm schooled on their value, so I can factor in any work they'll need - like surrounds and new grills, etc.
Hopefully that's the case ... but based on my experience with buying vintage audio on CL (which I stopped doing a while back), it's usually not a good sign when the seller states how valuable something is based on ebay comps ... but doesn't post a pic of the item.
I was fortunate to find a 1 owner pair needing foam. In near mint cosmetic condition, for 60.00. I refoamed them, kept them for awhile, until a move had me sell 90 percent of my collection. Enjoyed them for the time I had them. I was able to get quite abit for them when I sold them. 200.00 if that is the sellers asking price is a very good price. I sold mine for triple that.
I got them... pics coming later. I paid $180... they were a very nice couple. The wife bought them new in the mid 70's. they had tried to use some sort of clothing material to fashion new surrounds, then apparently stored them for the last decade. All speakers except for one woofer made sound. It might not be dead, though... I'll pull it and check it out soon. They look good, though. Much better condition than the free L220's I just acquired.
Congrats on L166!
However, I disagree on the last statement.
Free is always in better condition than anything paid.
You got L220's FREE???
Dang you. :thmbsp:

As I hoped, the other woofer was just disconnected. All I need is new foam and a little work on the cabs. These things will be singing very soon! Here are pics of the previous owner's surround repair... some sort of cloth and double sided foamy tape!
