Hi, my name is JW, I was recently given a set of speakers, they seem to be jbl, I know the man who purchased them was wealthy, and they sound awesome, even though they look like they are from the 60's, I have included photos and would appreciate any help in Identifying, and figuring out what the value might be. Welcome JW. I don't know anything about your speakers , but I am sure someone will come along who does .

Thanks for the kind greeting, I don't really need them so I was thinking of donating them to good will, but after hearing them I was thinking they may have some value I should look into, If I can omit that part of the question I will, and repost in that section, sorry......jw
 
These are fairly well-known and classic JBL components:

D-130 15" driver (not strictly a woofer as it could also be used in a full-range application)
075 Ring Radiator Tweeter
N2600 Crossover

These components were apparently sold together back in the day as a System 030, which the buyer would then install in his own custom or pre-built cabinet. You're correct that it's from the 1960s.

eBay completed sales should give you a decent idea as to what they're worth. The thread has already been moved to Dollars and Sense, so talking about value is no longer verboten.

Is it just a single cabinet (Mono) or did you get a pair of cabinets suitable for Stereo use?
Acousti-Craft made (empty) speaker cabinets - suitable for installing speakers into ...
 
There is value in these speakers however it all depends. What they are worth on say ebay is dependent on are you willing to package them securely in order that they arrive to their destination unscathed? packaging & shipping large heavy speakers is not a simple task. You could list them and offer local pick up only that alleviates packaging

You can try your local CL but don't expect to get ebay prices for them, it's a smaller market compared to ebay.

As @swechler mentioned above regarding the model #'s search those and do some homewok and you'll begin to get an idea of worth.
 
I have one JBL 030 in a JBL C37 cabinet and one in a simple birch plywood cabinet which my Dad bought back in 1957 that I remember helping my Mom stain before I was 5-years-old. These were my main system for over 40-years. I bought two empty C35 cabinets probably 15-years ago and intend to put the speakers in them once I have the room to work on them.
 
As said the JBL components are all sought after collector items. If an aficionado were to receive such a gift they'd feel pretty good about themselves. Rather than GW, search out young (or old) vintage audio nut to gift to. World could use more thoughtful giving.
 
So sad that the legend of these speakers and speakers like these(JBL) has gone missing in action. I can't imagine the landfill of thousands of these speakers.
They are legendary and held with a great deal of respect. Let's say like maybe the (Cadillac) of speakers at the time(1950-1970). I dreamed of the time of owning setups like this. My best I was able to achieve was a pair of L-100's that I still have.
Life and its challenges got in the way. All I do now is read about long hidden and lost JBL systems and think of how sad it all is.

Yes, OP, when you said "a set" did you mean two complete cabinets or did you mean all of the components? The value of two is more than double the value of one.

Great info,Thanks, I have tried ebay but dont get many results, but with this info I can dig deeper, ty, I was reading another thread and they were talking about serial numbers in relation to when it was made, and how that effected value, do the serial numbers on these speakers have an effect on value?
