JBL Theatre Speakers

Sometimes in a rural area, I have noticed that sellers lack the knowledge of the general availability of audio equipment. They don't realize that most of us can buy equipment that may have cost thousands new, for $50.00 to a few hundred.

Kinda off topic here, but why are most theater speakers two way? Do the huge horns theater speakers go down low enough to cover lower midrange? Surely those 15 inch woofers most theater 2-ways sports don't go any higher than 400hz.

Also is another contributing factor that they are bi-amped (I'm assuming)?

Yes, depending on the speakers, the horn can play as low as 500hz, although 1000 or so would be more the norm..

Two way, because it's the most efficient way to get a lot of sound into a huge room.. .

Some times they are bi-amped. other times they have a passive crossover.

I've got mine bi-amped and crossed over some where around 1000-1100hz and love em... Was just listening to them yesterday.

The guy repost his, ad. And it looks like he's paying for storage too.

Another guy is selling some gear in the same area from the airforce base near hear. He's been trying for about two months ++. Originally he had 6 now he has 4. I know the guy who bought a pair, (he has the extra cash) & he won't pay the asking price of $350 per speaker. To make room I got his Altec Model 14's. This is the other guys CL ad.

I had 2 sets of these in excellent condition & new foams. One set I sold for $300
The other set I sold for $275, because of a small dent in the mid speaker dust cover. I wouldnt be surprised if these were one of the sets I sold. It took about three weeks to sell both sets. Ironically, in my earlier post, I stated I got a set of Altec model 14's, from a guy that bought a set of theatre JBL's, he bought one of the set's of L166 I had originally
Posted for $350. He talked me down to $300. The circle around here is fairly small.

I got some JBL's out of a theater that we took down.
The one thing I didn't get were those horns. Man I could use a set of those...

..

Yeah.. "those horns" especially if 2" drivers on them are pretty fantastic sounding... I'll never be parting with mine..
