the 800c looks nice but it seems pretty steep for a unit that should have a complete recap done to it before it can be trusted as a daily driver.

That price seems to be decent by East Coast standards. I've seen recent offerings for the same price in the same claimed condition, except that the seller has also taken all the tubes. Of course, without tubes, it is tough to tell what condition the unit is in.

Given this article fisher gear might just go insane here soon, or not. I just got one and am already learning it's most likely not going to be a plug and play relationship, so that might kill the trend fast.
