With that increase, it's already too late for me.

I knew it would happen eventually. I'm just a bit surprised it took most of the day. Meanwhile, LP Gear seems to be holding the line.

It shows Morita-san, the man who assembles the SAS styli. He clearly states that the wire tension system of the SAS stylus makes it a special stylus. And he seems to be the only person in the company who has the required skills to manufacture SAS styli. My guess: Demand has exceeded Jico's / Morita-san's production capacity.

Jico say: "We endeavor to refine the original design and bring you the next generation of Super Analogue Stylus as soon as possible."

My gut feeling tells me that the SAS styli will return either more expensive (to slow down demand) or with a simplier suspension system (which can be assembeld by less trained personnel).

If he truly is the only one who can (reliably) do this, I hope it's because of what you say and not some other reason like failing health of the gentleman. :(
 
I'm glad I found this thread. I just picked up a backup SAS for my M91ED at LPGear. The price hasn't increased....yet.

Failing health, sabattical, quitting his job, retirement... there could be many possible reasons.

I just hedged my bets and got a SAS for my V15 type IV from LPGear since the price there is still quite sane. It's a hit to my CC bill this month, but I was caught sleeping when Shure and Stanton stopped production of their top OEM styli. Sometimes you just have to draw the line and bite the bullet.

Agreed, and I can't blame him for any of those reasons, if that is what is going on. Again, I just hope it's not because of failing health.
 
I don't really *need* a SAS for either my M91ED or V15 Type II, but... I've always wanted one. How dramatic is the difference between it and the standard elliptical? How does a SAS equipped V15 Type II compare to, say, my Denon DL300 or a AT-440 MLa?

Initially, I didn't notice much difference between the SAS and a $15 stylus that I picked up on ebay. I was really disappointed. But I remained persistent, and one day the sound just overwhelmed me. I swapped the cartridge/headshell to see if I was imagining the change. I wasn't. It took just about 100 albums passing under the needle before the sound was noticeably better.

Yeah, I'm not in a place where I can throw money around but these are likely become over inflated. I just got this cart and really love it but I know the stylus is long in the tooth.
 
Forced me to order an SAS for my long idle/disabled V15 VmR but looking forward to giving it a spin on my old favorite phono cartridge.
 
Wow, I'm glad I pulled the trigger on one a couple of weeks ago(for an Arcam P77), hasn't shipped yet but it does say that it's processing. Hopefully they can finish up any of their previous orders that were placed.
 
At one time I loved the V15-III w/ SAS mounted on my 3009 series II (improved) with fixed headshell. It was my main table.

This arm, with an effective mass of only 6.5 grams, does not have many modern options. I am running a DL 301 mk II on it now with great success (I added 2 grams of mass).

I decided to buy another SAS and just ordered one from LPGear. It is still listed at $ 143, that's $105 less than TurntableNeedles.

I will probably always have a vintage rig in my stable so why not keep the V15-III in top form!

i just bought this a year ago for my V15VxMR - JICO VN5xMRHG High Grade SAS Stylus Needle S.A.S. and probably wont need another for a long while but i love it so im not taking any chances and bought another from the same seller for $185, i paid $174 a year ago free shipping. i got the last one he had this morning 15 were sold
