JICO SAS Discontinued

Picked up the SAS for my M95ED. I was going to try the HE but.....
I already have a M97x w/ SAS but might as well strike while there is still an opportunity.
Price is still $138 + ship. LP Gear.
I got an acknowledge, we'll see if the order actually goes thru.

Now watch either there will be a glut of sas's or the new version will mop up the floor with them.

I just pulled the trigger on a SAS for my M95ED from LP Gear. Hoping it ships. Turntable Needles jacked their price up quite a bit overnight!

I got an email at 1:44 pm this afternoon from LP Gear. It seems as if the JICO SAS for the M91 is out of stock. Something tells me that a price hike is in order.

I just ordered one for my Shure V15 III from LP Gear. I guess I'll see if I get an email. I'll be.

Wow glad I got mine when I did. I have a Jico SAS Diamond for a Techincs Linear tt and a Jico SAS Shibata designed for a Stanton 681 EEE on my other Technics tt. The sound difference was WELL worth the price. Details unheard before were pulled out, no BS. Sound may be a bit bright for some folks if thats not your thing. But I absolutely love both.
 
Never tried a SAS in person. Oh well, I can live with a few of the aftermarket oddball hyperellipticals and genuine Audio Technica Microline styli.

It's a Shibata, not a SAS. Doesn't seem to be as much experience posted here with JICO's Shibata stylii. Perhaps that'll change soon!
 
I didn't like what the SAS did for a Shure V15 III or IV, but I do like the SAS on my M91ED.

It had been sitting around unused, so I recently tried it on my TD-124/SME 3009 non-improved and thought it sounded slightly congested - probably just a compliance mismatch.

Because of the recent announcement, I decided to try the M91ED/SAS again, this time on my Dual 1019, which has a fairly low mass arm. I have it dialed in at 1.25g with no antiskate.

This is a terrific combo... warm, yet detailed, with very transparent mids, and excellent imaging. Bass is full and extended, yet tight.

Glad to hear you found a good match for the SAS. It definitely likes low mass arms and 1.25 grams with very little anti skate.

The V15-III w/ SAS on my 6.5 gram arm was beautiful when dialed in.

I had tried the V15 III/SAS on a 9.5g 3009 improved, which should have been a great match, and found it to be thin-sounding and lacking the energy that even the cheap EVG stylus brought out. Maybe there was something not right about the set-up, but I don't think so.
 
Both of my Jico premium styli work well on my Dual 1219 with a M91. The HE and SAS are both real full and realistic sounding. The HE is quite a upgrade from the EVG PM3136, and very similar in quality to the OEM Shure that I have. Both have different positive attributes. The HE is quieter in the groove, while the OEM is a touch crisper in the upper end.

When using the SAS on the Dual the soundstage is much deeper than the HE, and records that have lots of minute detail is what makes this stylus special. I need to have mine inspected as it has a lot of hours but still sounds nice.

I wish JICO success on the new and hopefully improved SAS.

^ My exact experience The best attribute from the SAS was the deep 3D soundstage, the details, and airiness. They sound would envelope me in my listening position. I now have a lot of hours on the SAS and while it sounds "good", it no longer gives me that same level of performance.

Maybe I have moved on? Hopefully LP Gear comes through and sends me one so I can try it again.
