JOKER

A Serbian Tale is one messed up movie. A movie like that would never be allowed to be made due to its content.
While we're on this topic of disturbing films the Girl Next Door is another. I was messed up for like a week after watching that.

I should read these threads more often, so I can add to my list of things never to see. I'm a lot more sensitive to sadistic-gore type of stuff than when I was 25. I just don't think it's a good influence on anyone. Friend of mine loves the stuff.

I really enjoyed the film and the acting was top notch. A really dark portrail of a realistic joker with out a lot of the comic book stuff. I didnt think it was violent as some had described in some reviews.

Yeah, have zero interest in yet another vision of Joker.
Really DC, get off the whole Batman/Super mythos and DO SOMETHING NEW for a change.

Trust me when I say, this is not a superhero movie.

It is gritty, it is dark, and I had goosebumps for longer than I can ever recall during the final 5 minutes.

Those who think this is another "Natural Born Killers" or some crazed gorefest......it isn't.

It is an adult movie that asks tough questions. I hope those of you who have been swayed by critics with an axe to grind are able to see through that, and watch what I think is the best thing out of Hollyweird in a very long time.

I started a thread on this, and it got closed, so everyone, please tread lightly.

Ladies and gents, I will not spoil the movie for any who choose to see it, but I'll tell you this - the level of "violence" is on par with any basic R rated movie. There's really only 2 scenes with hardcore violence, and it is not gratuitous. I don't know where some of the critics are getting this. I feel the most evil thing that happens in the movie, near the end, is great BECAUSE IT DOES NOT SHOW the kill. Very "Psycho" that way.

As for awareness, who with a brain in their head and eyes and ears hasn't already realized that things are awry?? :dunno:

Sure don't need Hollyweird to tell me that.

One big folly of life is to be so self assured and above it all....until bad stuff happens to you. That's just one take away i got from this movie.

One of the best movie scores I have heard in many a moon, just flat out captured the darkness of the Joker's world.
Joaquin Phoenix transforms his role as someone seeking acceptance and validation to a person who is in total control of his character's emotion and at the end of the movie, blossoming into a killing machine. Acting all around was superb.
Phoenix deserves an oscar nod.
I loved this movie, best movie I've seen this year

Agreed. Interpretation is a very personal thing.

I just got the soundtrack by Hildur Gurdadottir (sp??) and man, it's very good.
I too was moved by the score to Joker and ordered it. Can't wait to play it in the dark on my reference system.
You might like the score to Tim Burton's Batman penned by Danny Elfman (Oingo Boingo). It is excellent and is a piece of vinyl I listen to quite often. Great SQ.
