I found one, and only one, AK thread that mentioned this brand. In 2005.

The passive 10" elements are cardboard with a black spongy layer (found them inside, surrounds long gone.)

These do not look like homebuilt. Edges and inside look factory fabricated for mass-market retail.

The seller said they bought them new from a stereo store. :scratch2: Too much fit and finish, and identifiable drivers. Plus there is real wool stapled to the inside back...I wouldn't think so.

Badges are gone :tears:. Just glue marks. The brand logo is not on the Warranty Card stapled to the back.

We may never know what its logo looked like. :sigh:

Sharp/Optonica is not the brand. Nor your other guesses.

In fact it does NOT start with the letter 'S'.

Agree Optonicas were well-made, I love those metal teardrop knobs. :thmbsp:

Got a garage-sale computer-controlled Optonica cassette deck but it shuts off after a second or two, a sensor seems to be funny.

Clues: Not a car company, retail store, or designer label.

I don't really know if these were rebadged from another maker.

Heck I don't know anything at all about these.

The seller said 1970's but the plastic around the tweeter and the level controls, and the ball-socket grill connectors, and machined grill frame say early 80's to me.

If the guts were made by Pioneer/Technics or somebody else, there's nothing printed anywhere to show that.

They are heavier than any Pioneer/Technics I've picked up, but I haven't seen a HPM up close.
