Greetings;
I could not find a service manual for your unit. That bulb doesn't appear to be 'burned' usually you'll see some discoloration. Take a strong magnifying glass and inspect the elements on the bulb.
If all the bulbs are the same they appear to be assembled with a single lead wire and ground to chassis.

Better look at the pictures again. There are 2 wires going to the bulb: one white, one black.

Excellent info, I'd just use a 12v/150ma bayonet base lamp, shave the nubs off, and solder wires to it, or, if space permits, use a bayonet base lamp socket and solder the wires to the socket instead.

Can anyone tell me where I can get another rubber "boot" for the tuner bulbs on this unit? In the midst of replacing the tuner lights, one of them broke, so now the display looks weird. Would love for it to be uniformly blue all the way across the dial.
Also need 2 EQ slider knobs and a volume or balance slider knob if anyone has any extra.

What did you wind up doing? I wound up using some 14V 65ma little blue bulbs I found for $0.07 a piece...

Hello, ive recently purchased one of these JVC r-s33 Super A recievers. my display bulbs aren't working, i believe the filaments have broken, as was stated earlier in this thread. I have purchased these replacement bulbs:

the seller assured me it was okay to crimp the wire connections as opposed to soldering them. Just wondering if this is a viable solution to this issue. Sorry to dig up old threads, just looking for a solid answer before i proceed. Thanks!

I bought bulbs with following specs and they work well. Need to cut the leads of old lamp and solder to the new bulb.
1815 Lamp 14V Mini Bayonet/BA9s base T3.25 lamp shape 14V 2.8 Watts

I had the same problem. I wanted to go with LEDs but the ones I had did not dispers enough, creating hot spots on the dial. So I took a chance with some LED strip lighting I had laying around. It came with a 12v DC wall wart so that was a no-go. So I put the strip lights on the dial side of the metal bit that has the original bulbs in it, and stuck them on with the sticky backing. Then I ran a line from the original light bulb power - 10 v ac or so - to the LEDs and I think it works fabulously. See the pictures for the awesome results.

@HepGreg I know this is an incredibly old thread but do you by chance have the name of the bulbs you used here? The ebay link is long since dead and unavailable.
