Kansas City Area Get Together

I can make the 18th, what time ? Should I bring the SX-950, or does EW and the tubes gonna be enough ? The little B&O's are easy I'll throw them in the car no matter what, the SX is a bit more trouble. So let me know.
I really want to hear a tube system, I have everything but an amp and a room, hope the freshmen swings a scholarship !

I had no real plans to bring anything except myself, but that can change if need be.

The VFET will be a long way from completed. :tears:

Looks like it's gonna be the 18th :thmbsp: That will be good, as it will give me a bit more time to prepare. I have to go upstairs right now, as I'm in a tiny bit of trouble for dragging to big organs home from the auction tonight. :D Hey, one of them has nice iron and tubes, and the other has something that says Leslie in the back. Anyhow, I post some details in the morning over coffee. Thanks all, Jay

I was thinking ICs Doug. All mine are off the shelf cheapies. On bringing stuff, I would just say that if anyone wants to bring "anything", that would be great, and if not, we will still have plenty of stuff to fool with. Kev, you could bring a Sherwood, and some vinyl in exchange for a finger sandwich. :D One thing I will be asking about is proper alignment, and general set-up for phono cartridges. Looking forward to seeing everyone, Jay

For directions just shoot me a PM.

I am going to try to make it. Send me your address so I can Map Quest. I had it but I deleted it. I may bring some KLH model sevens I am getting this weekend. Need any music?

Music is allways good, and I would love to hear some KLHs. Seems like a lot of guys like them mated with tubes. Just bring whatever you don't mind hauling down. PM is sent

It's not ready for a road trip just yet. Sure you can't make it?

I'd have to ask the boss (wife) to see if I can come out to play... she always has honey-dos for
me on Saturday (which is my only day off at the moment with all the OT I'm putting in at work.

Don't count me out just yet... :scratch2:

I'd say just show up whenever. Anyone who is early, can help set stuff up etc.:D I think Kevmcbee is coming early to make the little finger sandwiches. I'm just figuring on an open door policy all weekend, so whenever you show up, that's when the party starts.:thmbsp: Jay

Hey Jay,

I'll be in Albuquerque in biz next weekend - RATS! I have lots of Fisher and Maggie iron to bring to a meet sometime, and a set of AKG K1000 headpones.

Darn, I was gonna PM you, if you hadn't responded to this thread by tomorrow. I'm sure this will be the first of many though. I know that a couple of the guys are talking about getting a club together, and having "meetings":D I've been thinking about getting some headphones myself, as the wife tends to sleep in everyday. We'll keep you posted Bill, Jay

Thanks Jay.

I can host a meet sometime here in Jayhawktown too. I have a 144 qt. cooler too, holds lots of beer.

Have fun guys!!

Hi All, Well, I have the next two days off work to get things squared away. Does anyone have an outboard DAC they could bring? My CD players are kind of old and could be a weak link.:thumbsdn: Really just wanted to check in and make sure everyone has directions etc.... Looking forward to seeing everyone, Jay

Been trying to shop for one, and it just hasn't happened yet.

Might actually pack up the KR-9600 and the Dynaudio speakers, but dunno if you got the room, or if we'd have time to fool with it.

Have a great time guys... looks like I won't be able to make it... maybe next time.

Should have plenty of both (room and time). I'd love to hear something besides my stuff. I don't know when people will start showing up, but I'll be up and piddling around early as allways. Thanks, Jay

Thank you, Jay, for graciously hosting

It was a great audiophile get-together this afternoon, and I really enjoyed meeting everyone. I wish I could have stayed longer, but I came away with plenty of electronic things to think about :scratch2: and lots of music :music: I want to hear more of, both new and familiar.

It was great to listen to Sam Bush (that one cut we repeated about four times was terrific; which album is that on?) and Alison Krauss () and Norman Blake and Patty Loveless, etc., and talk about the live concerts we've attended over the years.

Jay, your handcrafted tube and horn hifi rig is awesome! I really enjoyed listening to music through that setup. Trust your ears. You know you got some great results.

Echowar's sophisticated Kenwood KR-9600 and his custom Dynaudio speakers sounded great right after setup in the "bright" room, and the Bozak speakers were sounding very nice at the time I had to leave.

Again, I really enjoyed meeting and conversing with everyone. (I've got to get everyone's name and AK moniker matched up.) Let's do it again sometime, somewhere, soon.

Doug
