Kansas City Area Get Together

What a great day, and great bunch of guys! Recycler brought an awesome Dynaco II that we plan to bring back to life soon (serious iron). EW brought the biggest receiver that I had ever seen, a Kenwood 9600. We set it up in the kitchen with his Dynaudio speakers, and Rybeams Bozaks. I'm glad I never really got into the SS-Tube debate around here, because this set-up would have had me eating my words. It sounded amazing. There was an accuracy and quickness that made my jaw drop, but it was definately not "sterile". I could have listened to that Kenny on either set of speakers all day, and been in audio heaven. The thing that kept going through my mind was how different all the combonations we tried sounded, but every single one sounded so very good. I think an open mind can be a real blessing in the pursuit of audio nirvana. Most everyone had to cut out fairly early, but EW hung out for quite a bit of amp swapping through the horns. He had a killer selection of CDs as well, and we had a hell of a good time just hanging out and shootin the bull with tunes. The Missus even came downstairs and brought a David Lantz CD to listen to. I can't wait to do it again:thmbsp: Here are some pics, Jay

Jay I wanted to thank you for your hospitality, a killer place on the lake a perfect setting. First chance I have had to hear "real" equipment in a long, long time. Nice not to hear the "where are your surround speakers" question come up. lol I heard a bunch of music I like, and started to sort out the tube vs. SS sound.

Thanks a bunch !

Sounds like it was a great time... wish I could have been there... :tears:

Who are the folks in the picture? Glenn I recognize, but... :scratch2:

The tall slim guy is Doug, AKA Recycler, and the feller with the ball cap and brewski is Dan, AKA Rybeam. BTW Doug, That Sam Bush you like is on the CD "Glamour and Grits". Glad everyone had fun, Jay

No excuses next time Scott. :D

I just read this thread and spent the day yesterday sitting around the house. I live in Joplin and would have enjoyed a little roadtrip to join in the fun. Maybe next time I will know about it soon enough to be able to attend. Sounds like a good time was had by all.

Steve

As a matter of fact Retro and I have both had end of summer jams and we are thinking about another get together this year.

Would be cool if someone else would host, but if not I will.
