Congratulations! You are going to love them, I'm sure....as long as you fulfill the Infinity need for ample high voltage watts per channel. What sort of amp or receiver are you going to power them with? Again, yay for you!:thmbsp:

Well, I have a Onkyo TX 8500 mK ii and a Yamaha Rx v870 (80 front& back) The Onkyo is a dual power supply and pushes 160 WPC . I was looking at the 7's a few months back. I understand virtually no difference in the 6's though. Wish I had kept my Marantz 2270 ,lol. Merry Christmas.

Have to add that I am a die hard fan of vintage Infinity speakers- picked up a set of Monitor 2As in August. And I have a pair of Column 11's waiting for me in Philly. Can't get enough of the Infinities
Now I have to part with my Klipsch Cornwalls and EPI (Epicure?) 400+. Probably as well as the Ohm Walsh 2's. Next target ESS Heil AMT.

looking forward to hearing your opinion of them...the Onkyo may have enough balls to do the job...what are you waiting on? fire those bad boys up!:thmbsp:

Well, lol, they have to be shipped. I wonder what they would sound like through the Yamaha. I know its not an ideal set-up, but right now they are driving the Monitor 2 A's and Ohm Walsh 2's together and more than holding it's own. When I get em, I'LL POST

I alway tell them how I want them packed. I tell them I want them packed in the boxes from lowes 18x18x24 two boxes overlaping each other one of top and bottom. 2" of styrofoam sheeting on all sides, top and bottom of the box. I never had a pair damnaged that way. then I have them use packing penuts if there is air room between the speaker and the stryoam. I also ask them to put each speaker into a trash bag in case it gets wet in shipping. It's not cheap to have them shipped that way but to me it's worth paying extra for good packing.

I see the dust cap is dented in. are you going to replace the dust cap or use them as is?

Thanks for the suggestions, I will email him and request the Lowes boxes.

I"ll try em out and be on the lookout for spare drivers, because from what I have been reading on these they are keepers.

Koogar: You got a GREAT deal on them! The Yankee fan is right, you will love em! I have a pr of the 6.1 I got off ebay and they sound great! Your Onk will more than do the job. How are you shipping? These things will tolerate a lot...EXCEPT...being dropped while in transit. Inspect them carefully upon reciept. Happy Trails, and a great score!

the Kappa 6 and 6.1 are different animals, though I'm sure the 6.1 sound wonderful, too...I am unfamiliar with their power requirements. The Kappa 6 responds well to amps with abundant power and a high slew rate, as well as damping factor, in order to control the 10" woofers, and keep bass tight and clean, and not sloppy or "boomy" sounding. I hope you're obtaining the speaker stands as well..they elevate the speakers properly, and the slight tilt back seems to complement their sound as well...again, enjoy!

Yes guys the stands are included. I will have to forward the good shipping advise recieved from JBM 1976 tothe shippers after my check arrives and clears. . Thanks everyone, I will popst some pix along with the Monitor2aS AND HOPEFULLY the Colum 2s from Philly if they ever get picked up.

I am hoping to run these parralel with the Monitors but the feeling I am getting is that while its doable- not the best sound. Looks like I will have to get Naki, Carver Macintosh or somethtng along that line, good clean power down to 1 ohm or less.
Any suggestions?

It's probably not the best receiver to run the Infinities but that Yamaha ain't nothin to sneeze at. I used to have one and was quite impressed by the sound it put out. Has the display gone out on yours yet? If not it probably will and the fix will cost you about $3.00 for a bulb from Radio Shack. I used to have that same Onkyo too... I actually think I liked the sound of the Yamaha better.

Also if you're going to give up your Cornwalls for a pair of AMT 1s I would really think twice about it. MAYBE some AMT 3 Rock Monitors but even then I'm pretty sure the that particular model Klipsch will wipe up the floor with them.

I'm sure there are numerous other good options, but I can honestly say that my Kenwood Basic M2 produces startling results with my pair, but I dedicate it to this pair of speakers only. Be advised...running another pair of speakers off the same amp along with the K6's will present some seriously low ohm scenarios to the amp, risking damage to both amp and speakers. I hope some of the true Infinityphile/experts will chime in on this one, as it would be a crying shame to won a pair of speakers of this quality and not optimize their performance. I've heard many good things about Yamaha Pro amps capable of pouring the coal to demanding speakers...stay tuned, lots of good input to come, I'm sure
