While I cannot speak for the L-07M's specifically, the L-09M's (they're bigger brothers), sound significantly better, and I owned two 9100's and loved them very much. To be honest, I don't ever see myself needing different amplification now that I have my L-09M's.

Do your L-09M monoblocks basically just add volume/ "power"/ by increasing wattage, or is there a noticable acoustic improvement through your 700M/700C at lower/medium listening levels?
The reason I ask is, I'm running a KA-907 and an MX-110 as a pre, but pushing 4 JBL L-100's and would eventually need 4 MB's. I don't really need more volume per-say, if that's mostly what monblocks get you.

Meggy, I can hear the difference with the L-09's. They possess all the good qualities of my 700M amp, but do an even better job - they sound even more refined, detailed, clear, powerful, etc. They do a fantastic job with my NHT's, and it is quite easy to hear the difference between them and my Toshiba amps.

still waiting on the refund!!!
I just wrote the guy for a detailed description and they sold 20 minutes ago! Since he has lowered the price,I though I just might...
did I mention that I have a L-07T and L-07C looking for some company....

to answer Nakdoc, the 07's freq. resp is DC-200kHz +0/-0.5dB or DC-150kHz +0/-1.5dB while the specs on the 07 II's are DC-600kHz +0/-3db. This info from our frinds at TVK. Having only heard 1/2 of a good example.... grrr again! I'd think that the II's might what, have a different characteristic to the extreem highs? Just a WAG!

GRRRR, for my part! I wish I had seen this before. I've been looking for another pair for bi-amping. And the third parts unit would not have been bad either.
I can say with all confidence that you will enjoy these amps, meggy. It should say something indeed that I gladly traded some Mac gear for mine, and have not looked back once. Their reputation for fine sound and reliability is well deserved. Pair them up with a good preamp and you will not be disappointed.
To get the most out of them, place them as close to your speakers as you can and use a short length of medium-heavy (14-12 ga) speaker cable, and longer lengths of high-quality, well shielded patch cable between the amps and the preamp. They were designed to be run with a special 14-wire cable (Kenwood’s Sigma cable) and each run was meant to be less than a meter (or yard) in length. I have the special cable, and each run is ~14-inches ; its about as close as you can get to having no speaker cable at all.
On the matter of L-07M mkI vs. mkII, I think that if one were to measure the mkI model with the same +/-3dB parameters as the mkII version, they would spec out the same (or much closer to it; the mkI's are very conservatively rated). Suffice it to say that either version has a frequency response that extends well beyond anyone’s ability to hear.
Aaron: One of these times I get down to the Cities, I’ll bring them along; maybe try bi-amping Ron’s Altec/Fostex/EV setup with your L-09M’s. They will make an appearance at the little Mid-west AK-Fest, in any event. I’m still divided on what pre to bring though: the Mitsubishi DA-P10 or the SAE mkIB… Choices.

Mike, you still have not experience the power I am pushing over here - L-09M's into my NHT SB3's and Kenwood 700M into my NHT W2 subwoofers.
And Meggy, to give you an idea of the power... I found an article online about the L-09's. They are rated at 300 watts RMS each, and were measured at over 380 watts. How is that for a conservative power rating???

M Jarve, thanks for the cabling tip. I run 14 ga Monster now, but I'll research some better shielding possibilities. I can't get away from 12 ft runs because of the room layout. Do you think lowering the guage from 14 will help? I'll go down to where ever I need to be.
Inspiribomb, that's one kick-a** sine wave. I used to not worry about my L-100's. I guess I better watch it. You don't do anything (like external fuses) for your NHT's, do you? Although those have something like a 175-200W rating, I think.

Meggy, the amps sit behind each speaker, and the power cords are long.
Let's fix that "parts unit" and pass the Karma on to the fellow with the destroyed L-07 (I can't for the life of me imagine what could be destroyed).
Send the parts unit and the destroyed unit to me and we'll get a functional L07 for sure!

I had to ship both back for the claim that I haven't received. This shows only one of the three dinged corners and should, but does not clearly show the cage where it is buckled in front of the heat sink.

Meggy, to protect my speakers, I just take it easy on the volume knob. They weren't designed to fill a concert hall, so I don't try to make em do so.
