Kenwood KA-7100 help

now put your meter right across de17 .
should see 28.5v dc .
its a zener diode that steadies the voltage to 28.5v .to supply qe31 base so qe31 emits 28v thats missing at pin 8 .
if the voltage is present across de17 . qe31 is bad or it has poor soldering on its legs . or the board is cracked .

if voltage not present re75 is bad and or de17 is bad .
 
Pin 8 is 26v on the main board, I had originally tested it at the board on the front where all the controls are located. That is where pin 8 reads 0

D17 reads 27v
 
supply voltages look good up to now .we need to figure out why the relay doesn't click in next .
find re79 re80 .
measure voltages there black to chassis again dc volts .
they both should be close to 0v dc .
try measuring each end of those resistors and report back .
 
Both r 79 and r80 measure 0v DC.

I just want to say this means SO much to me that you going to such great lengths to help me out like this!!
 
find de27 and measure dc voltages at each end . it will be next to the relay .
black probe to chassis again
 
:bowdown:Not to butt in... but last I had this issue with my 9100, the mode selector switches were in the improper position... also make sure (if this model is designed as such), the amp/preamp switch is not set to "separate".
 
protection circuit is not operating correctly .
need to know dc voltages each side of re84
and also re83 .

Any help is welcome! I have double checked the setting and I believe I have it set up correctly.
 
it is possibly qe33 gone short between collector and emitter or ce40 is shorted .
probably best to pull and test qe33 first .. you could even try powering up with qe33 removed and see if relay clicks .
 
I'll try this later today and report back. Should the speakers be hooked up and speaker selection knob set to speaker a or should the results be the same if there are no speakers hooked up and the speaker knob is set to "off"
