Kenwood KA-7100 help

I haven't thought about amp projects or electronics for a while. Regular diodes are tested the same way as in the link pete gave you for testing transistors.

But I just remembered and/or I believe that LEDs have different dropping voltage(s) than the approximate .7v that is typical of a regular diode or between two legs of a transistor. So I do not know whether an LED can be tested the same way as a regular diode. But petehall and (likely) most others reading this thread would know.

The first two main places that many people here buy parts online are Digi-Key and Mouser. Both excellent sources with great customer service and a wide range of parts.

yes i have been scratching my head with that circuit and if the led is part of the circuit . and was getting around to it now the voltages are being read better .
you can test it with diode test on your meter .
disconnect one side and try your meter both ways . one way should read as a diode .other way open circuit .
it might even light up slightly with meter connected if good .
will still need to address the dc offset .
 
I checked the LED and found that is was not working, I know this because I accidentally snapped on me of the legs off....

I "borrowed" a led from another amp, it will light up but still no click.
 
It is interesting that the new LED lights yet the relay still will not click. Perhaps this is another clue. But...it is over my head at this point. I knew that I had a link to that other thread and offered it as it seemed relevant.

@petehall - is it possible that a fault condition causing too much DC offset (thus preventing the relay engaging) could also cause the original LED to fail, from too much current possibly? Or maybe that LED is supposed to fail under such conditions? Just thinking out loud...

In any case, I am out. Good luck justinfrankx. Stick with it, the 7100 is worth the effort.
 
is the led in the correct way round ?
did you install the parts backs you took out ? and are they the correct way round ?
did you set that voltage i mentioned to 0v ?
