Kenwood KA-907

What is so special about the 907?

Well-built, bombproof, one of the fastest amps of the era at 230V/µS. Price was very high for something with the Kenwood name ($1000), and although not 'rare', there are not a huge amount of them out there.

Anyone out there with an owner's/service manual? What are weight and dimensions on these? Orion lists the mfg. date as 1980.

Manual says 18 1/8" x 6 11/32" x 18 7/32" (W x H x D). 57lbs.

That's 12 pounds more than the 120wpc Yamaha CA-2010 from just a bit earlier. I'll hazard a guess and say the greatest difference in the weight is the additional heat sinking (which the Yamaha could use) and the second power transformer in the KA-907 (Yamaha only uses one large transfomer). The extra heat-sink area and transformer probably account for the additional 3"+ in depth on the KA-907.

EW - as you've worked on a few of both, which is easier to get at? The CA-2010 is definitely packed in tight.

The 907 is a nightmare to work on. I'd rebuild a 2010 any day in comparison.
