KLH 24 Crossover Anxiety

I had a chance to try the tiny mod that I proposed for the later KLH 22, 24, 26 family and it was an abject FAIL! I couldn't detect ANY audible change and would like to apologize for throwing it out there with no testing. SORRY. I don't imagine anyone tried it since no one has responded but, still, meh ... So, I figure I owe a CORRECT schematic without any harebrained additions to the AudioKarma Speaker forum, and here it is:

I've found that bunch of speakers to be very pleasant in their stock form and have been getting a motley pair of 24 Series II going using one real 24II and parts from an early 22 (cab and tweet), a later 22 (woof) and Ebay rear input panel and inductor. Something that I found while doing this project is that at least some of the earlier Model 22 woofers have a magnet structure that is twice a large as "normal". They have two of the normal ceramic magnets glued together. I haven't seen many pictures of this variation and only read a couple of mentions. I don't know if there are any voice coil or spider differences ...

Hello all,

This post has been a long time coming. My apologies for the delay as Ive been going in other directions rather than the most important - this one!

I slightly wimped out and had the crossover boards built by a great vendor on the bay. I soldered in new components with the exception of the original coil. I would have used the old resistor, but I already purchased one. It was built to the final specifications provided here and double checked by tgmartin. The end result has amazed me. They sound full, open, and even across the spectrum. If I use too many adjectives, you will think I'm full of it.

The binding posts were upgraded as long as I was at it. They were a combination of two different parts to get it right. In addition, Roy C's special sauce was used on the cloth surrounds. The speaker holes were very dry and brittle so I used a combination of super glue and plastic wood to sure them up.

I sincerity thank everyone here that helped me, with a special shout-out to tgmartin, who went above and beyond with his kind and patient assistance to this project.
