I stumbled upon a pair of KLH Model 300 speakers on my local CL. I haven't heard of this exact model, any good? They look similar to the Model 6.

Looks like a basic speaker, no high tech happening there. Probably sounds good. If the price is right, and you need a basic speaker, GO~

As a general rule you want to stay with KLH speakers in the single or double digit range. However I did once pass on a pair of those from a guy who sold me a pair of EPI 100's-Optimus 5's and Marantz Imperial 5's so he seemed to have good taste in speakers. It might be worth a try it if the seller is not asking too much and the speakers are in good shape.

Thanks guys! I own a pair of KLH Model 17's which I love and i'm not really in the market for a new pair of speakers, but the guy only wants $35 for the pair. I think they look a little like the Model 6, which I would like to have.

My housemate just bought a pair of these for about the same price.

I'd stay away. Very small magnets, no crossover apart from a cap in series with the tweeter and average cabinets. He's refoaming them so I can't comment on the sound.

I bought a set of these, needed to rip off the glued foam covers then refoam the woofers, the old foam was all pimply and almost brownish orange in color? Looks like a single film cap inside so I left it in there. Cleaned them up and for the size of them they aren't too bad? Might replace the cap eventually , the highs are not super crisp. What ya want for 20 bucks??
