KLH Model Nine current value

What would the value be for a mint pair of KLH Model Nines that were owned by one of the engineers of the Model Nines design team?

Don't know how much the heritage adds to the price, but I would think that a working but non-restored pair should command around $1000. I heard a pair about 3 years ago, a little beamy but impressive bass for a planar. Have a good look at them before purchasing; even the newest ones are approaching 50 years old.

My price tracking spreadsheet shows two examples with auction site sold prices around $500 and one set for $250. Not sure how much more this pair would be worth due to prior owner as already mentioned by GS.

If they were owned and maintained by one of the engineers, that would be something special, but if they have gone through more than one owner since new, there's probably not much added value there. We're not talking Thomas Edison here.

Janzen sells them for $8000 a pair restored.

I have 3 pairs and wouldn't sell them for less than a few thousand a pair.

All mine have rebuilt power supplies though.

I don't know but $1000 a pair seems a fair price in my opinion. They are some of the best speakers at any price point. (IMO)

Good luck ;)
