Is 200.00 too much for a cherry set of walnut Klipsch KG4's?

-Mike

We just had a thread about the same kg4's for the same price. I'm in the camp that thinks $200 for a pair of them is on the high side during these harsh economic times. Others thought it was a fair price. I believe you're being quite fair with the $130 price.

Thanks that's what I offered I will find out later. Really I have over 17 pairs of speakers and can only play a pair max at a time.

Even though i value mine a bit more as they're like new in condition, and complete with paperwork, packing, and boxes, i agree with this post completely.

Again, condition is everything with these in regard to value.

I bought my 8.5-9 out of 10 oak pair for $100 two years ago, but that was off a not really popular CL site.

Yeah he is sticking to 200 and it's a no go I will go 150 but not a penny more...

A couple months ago, I picked up a whole stereo which included KG4 for $200. While i was picking it up (was listed on CL) the owner told me he had calls from two guys that wanted it and one said he'd pay $200 for just the KG4.. Hmmm, I asked him for the phone numbers of those guys, which he provided.. As I pulled out of the sellers driveway, I called both and offered them for $100, if picked up right away. I explained the situation and said I didn't buy the system for the speakers..

Anyway, I met the one guy on the way home and sold them for $100.. I knew that was a little on the low side, but I needed another pair of speakers like I need another 14" of snow...

In reality, I think you're right on.. $100 is low, $200 is a little high, but they'd probably sell sooner or later for $200. $150 is a decent price, if they are in good shape.

Here's the latest two sales...

Delamination of veneer, and water damage: $115.
Surround separating from cone on passive radiator: $150.

For a walnut pair in good operating condition and good cosmetic condition, $200 is a very fair price.

Today I saw a pair for $100 on that auction site. I don't know how good that model is, but I had to look. They looked decent from the pics, but there are NO grills, and the dust caps are pushed in on one of them. They are from a local seller (that I bought from before)

I was going to ask the same question ...Does that seem like a fair price, and is this (KG4) a good speaker?

Take another look at the pair on eBay. There's a reason that they're still at the opening price of $100 and zero bidders.

The horns are missing!

Doesn't ebay usually fetch a little bit more than a private sale or craigslist? $200 on that auction site is probably a fair price with the greater amount of buyers. I passed on a local pair of them last year for half that amount that weren't getting any bites. The kg4's really aren't that rare.

not rare...can be found often but I guess it is where you live...I keep seeing them 'round Chicagoland for sale in the mid to low $200s...I passed on what was supposed to be a mint pair of oak oiled for $225 and have not seen a pair in that condition near that price round here...I do see them from time to time (a'Gon) for less...just too far away...good luck but I think $200 is a fair deal on what that kg4 is supposed to deliver...

Thanks...I thought they looked funny. I don't know where this seller gets their gear, but they have vintage gear all the time. The good thing is that they are less than 10 miles from my house. I do not think they really know what they have judging by their descriptions. Waiting for that gem.
