KT88, (ect) Single ended amp, SEUL

VERY nice there - why didn't you mount the sockets under the hood like the rectifier socket???

Cheers,
Bob

Nice......... you could just make a cutout in that top shelf and mount it there. No need for a chassis. ;) Aren't we helpful?

I tried both ways, but for my eyes this was better. I have reserved tube socket shock proof plates for those tubes, but I have not yet installed them.

That's a nice looking schematic.. :)

Could bump the voltage by switching in a 5AR4 rectifier..

Hey Keg, if you wanted to run 6L6G/GA's or 5881's, what would B+ be near? I'm assuming around that 360V range. For that matter, would a different front end be better? Running say a AT7 front end.

Yah 360-370 with this same circuit should be fine.

You can up the voltage to say 400, but raise the cathode resistor to keep dissipation down..

This front end or an AT7,ECC85 is good as well, the ECC85/6AQ8 I prefer over AT7 for rolling..

:thmbsp: thanks!

I have tried 5AR4 also. 5AR4 gives about 400V B+. It sounds very well too, but I have to make more testing with different music material to see which is better. (5Z3PAT looks better for me).

I am surprised of the bass playback. I have Revel Performa F30 floorstanders; the amp plays very well with these speakers having 10" woofer and sensitivity 87dB. Maybe 5AR4 is even better in this.

Ah yes those look very nice now...

Only thing I'd like to see is some rubber/soft feet on those bolts.. :)

Yes. I have put very thin (black) felt sheets under bolts in the latest version, but maybe I have to look for rubber paws under the legs. Or put thicker felts.
