Possible acquisition of Lafayette LR-2200 30 watt receiver. Pix which are not stock show a very clean perhaps mint. Per the seller this unit has been cleaned, detailed and serviced. Seller is selling multiple receivers - no one here (Chicago) is it? Worth the asking price of $90? Ebay has no sold listings. TIA Mike

Thanks getright99, I read the same thread... It sounds nice (warm like a tube receiver) but I don't need this and my gut tells me that this is a $50 receiver but I have nothing to back that up... And I hesitate to go that low. This guy is a hobbyist who to his credit details and services (although without the service manual, I don't know how he does that) pieces and does present the finished product well. I'm on the fence but probably won't go forward...

Lafayette (LRE) produced a few 'desireable' components -- generally vacuum tube circuits and considerably earlier than the LR-2200. Also some of the very last LRE receivers (very late 1970s) were identical to the much-sought-after Settons).

Otherwise, LRE components are generally held in little esteem by "collectors" and don't have much cachet... so, yeah, I agree -- low money item. Not bad, though -- and very nice looking (IMO, of course) and nicely constructed.

Thanks for the info mhardy6647 ! For my knowledge, what are the model numbers of the last LRE receivers, identical to the Settons? TIA Mike

LR-9090 and LR-5555 are two of them. I think the similar Settons numbers are RS660 and RS440
There's also a Setton RS220, which may be similar to the Lafayette LR-2020 or 3030.

"Nicely constructed". If that were a Pioneer, he would get what he is asking. But Lafayette didn't make junk, either. I have a bunch of their speakers and they are very nice. Listening to a pair now. I would consider that piece carefully. You may appreciate it later. Who cares if it isn't collectable.
