Large Pair of unknown thrift speakers

HatchetJack

Chillin' The Most
These followed me home from the thrift store today. The grills appear to
attached from inside but it seems only one 15" ? driver and a rectangular
port at the bottom. Musical Instrument speakers I'm thinking. They seem
very well built and heavy duty but not banged up like band speakers.
Any Ideas?????

I gotta suspicion that those are customs made by a shop for leslie extension cabinets. Or maybe for Organ.

Just taking a guess here but do you suppose they might have come from a church or other place/s where a musical speaker was needed? They look like the old speakers that a church I use to attend used up on stage. It'll be interesting to see what you find inside once you spend the time to unscrew all those screws in the back. Wow!, they really sealed them up good.......!!! Have fun, looks like you scored good with them..........

Regards.......Terry:thmbsp::music:

one looks like it is pretending to be a wheelbarrow.....:).....a 4 wheel drive one.....the speakers look a little like Argos speakers to me

Ahhhhh yessssss......bayne doddins, that takes me back.

But really, proly EV or Utah speaker kit. Get some tubes & enjoy.

Dude has a shop in Cartersville. Repairs music instruments. Didn't know he made speakers. :scratch2:

Bayne Dobbins is in Cartersville Ga, about 46 miles away from Bremen. He is still in the music business but now it seems he concentrates on building and repariing brass instruments (horns, trumpets, etc). Very cool. Looks like he was musical director at a university. Bet they are nice.

I am getting an organ speaker vibe from the cabinetry... though not so much from what's inside.
That's a good LRE (Goodman's OEM) coax driver. The third "way" is a whizzer cone for midrange extension.
