Late 1960s Fender Deluxe Reverb Issues

You might want to check for B+ voltage - maybe something crapped out in the power supply. If you have a schematic with voltages you can just check all of them on each tube but I would start with the obvious first.

Dumb question but I assume it's not on Standby, the speakers are plugged into the amp, etc...not to insult your intelligence, we've all been there.

Thanks Tox.... Don't worry about insulting my intelligence... I've made plenty of boneheaded mistakes over the years :-) I realized that I'm never sure which position of that switch is standby and which is operate mode. So I checked it again with standby in both positions. Still no sound.

Cademan started a conversation with me and he felt that the B+ voltage might be an issue too. I haven't fully tested out the voltage but one thing I found when I did the standby switch testing was that the output tubes were in fact lit up and when I shorted the guitar cable plugged in (with my thumb on the guitar end) I heard a buzz from the board. Nothing from the speaker but a definite sound from the electronics. I got this on both normal channels. I know that I did have the speaker plugged into the right jack (not the external speaker) and that it was inserted all the way.

When I told Cademan this he suggested checking the speaker itself to make sure it's working. If it is, then check the wiring to the speaker jack.

That's my next step... I have dinner plans tonight and I probably won't have time to check the speaker for a day or two.

I'll reply back to this thread after I check the speaker and have more info.

Thanks again to Cademan, Toxcrusadr and everybody else for their help!!!

Morning update... I did a quick test before getting ready for work. Pretty sure I have a bad speaker. I just did a test of running wires from the speaker itself and touching the ends to a battery. Not a sound. I'll do more testing tonight with a small audio amp I have to confirm.

If it is the speaker... any recommendations on a good replacement? I've been reading a bit after Cademan suspected the speaker and Weber (12F150) seems to be highly regarded to use in this amp.

It was the speaker. Just hooked up a freebie speaker that I wasn't worried about blowing up and everything's working great. Going to Guitar Center tomorrow to get a Celestion Vintage 30. Thanks to everybody for their help!!

Thanks Tox... you're right... one of the easiest fixes there is. It was worth every penny to get this baby singing again. My son had told me that the vibrato channel was out but I think he didn't have a footswitch connected. It works fine.

The only issues now is an occasional pop and the reverb doesn't work. It's probably the original tank so I'm going to check it out and get a replacement if I need to. That's only about 30 bucks.

Thanks to everybody for all their help!
