Now this is interesting and well priced for what it is,...

Home Depot has a few colors available. The silver Vortex is kinda interesting. YMMV

^^ That is a good price for the Kiss lamp.

This is very similar to the Vortex. I found this one a few years back at a thrift for about five bucks. At first I wasn't sure if I'd like the glitter lamps but this lamp looks great and you get motion in about 2 minutes time. This one was made in the U.S.A. and was originally called "The Wizard" when it was sold and stands 16" tall. It looks orange but it is red and looks extra nice at Christmas. It makes neat images of Stars & Crescent Moons on the walls and ceilings at night. Plus they throw less heat which is always nice here in Arizona.

Have heard that one does not run these with out care and not to be left alone for any length of time.

Not sure of the validity of this warning though.

I have run mine for hours without supervision, as long as you don't exceed the rated lamp wattage I believe you should be fine. Assuming you have a bottle without any cracks or severe scratches anyway.

Funny you mention lava lamps with vintage stereos.
One of two stereo systems I ran into as a child in the 70s, the ones that infected me with "The Bug", was accompanied by an original Lava Lite, cementing a connection between solid state and lava.
I've had several modern lava lamps that I bought after the 90s, but they became kinda cheesy for a grown man of my age.
But I wouldn't mind picking up one of those original old red ones with the amber liquid, and of course, the starlite base.
Let's not forget the crazy 70's mod lamps put out by Lava Lite. Wall sconces, and even some with permanent plastic flower arrangements. Talk anout kitschy! Ooh-la-LA! :beatnik:

Donal64, LOVE that array!

Ira, I will say that Lava lamps are even more enchanting when visible vacuum tubes are also glowing simultaneously somewhere in a darkened room!

8xlaxx, thanks, that's a cool video which I have never seen.

Ooooh. Imagine the euphoric dusty smell of warm glowing tubes while listening to rich tubified music and staring into a vintage Lava Lamp.
That would be an embarrassment of riches. :p

Ten hours would be enough to overheat most small lamps. I have a large one that is happy all day at room temp, especially in the winter.

The red lava with amber liquid is my favorite! The coolest looking one I have had was that color.

Yes indeed, and THANK YOU ever so much!!!
