Leben. Thinking something drastic here.

For me riding a motorcycle in the city is like playing Russian roulette.I wouldn't own a motorcycle unless I lived in Montana or somwhere such place.

What, the Bloomingdale right of way that runs through the Wicker Park-Bucktown youth ghetto?

I ride my bikes almost every day the weather is nice. I wear regular clothing, obey all the traffic signals and don't wear a helmet. Generally I range along the Lake from 12th St. down to 63rd and sometimes as far north as the river but never north of it. And rides over to Chinatown, Bridgeport, Canaryville and McKinley Park for the bakeries, delis and libraries. And the taverns. ;)

Oh yeah CD, us old boilermakers get to ride such bikes. And those are great bikes for oldtimers, especially the Biria.

Now if I were an old hairdresser........ ;)

My next bike we be an old beater single speed with a coaster brake; a rusty old Columbia or Murray or something. Maybe a Rollfast. I'm moving to Lincoln Square soon and will want a bike to ride the half mile from the new crib over to the EL and lock it up, something nobody will bother. Old Scwinns are cheap too, especially the "English racer" styled 3 and 5 speed ones that are neither retro enough nor fast enough to be cool. Great bikes and they were made in Chicago.

That's my favorite neighborhood in Chicago. Close enough to downtown, but far enough to get away from it easily. Decent coffee shops. An ok record store (Laurie's Planet of Sound), and food options. And I can also walk by Stereo Exchange with a weird look on my face because something about that place creeps me out. Perhaps its the wall of tonearms in the case as you walk in, covered in a decade's worth of dirt and dust. I mean, the guy can't be that busy...clean your store.

So as I feared I'm going to be out of town, in Los Angeles, the weekend that you guys were planning to visit the St. Louis shop. It's a short work trip, but then I come back for Thanksgiving here, then back to LA for a week, then back here for a week, then back to LA for a week. Fun.

I'm going to try to go to Venice Audio while out there, probably early December, to hear the CS-600.

Looks like its going to be a CS-300x and these speakers that I posted in another thread:

Not that the Harbeths aren't going to get their play time, either. But the speakers above were bought because they're very efficient and I want to play around with lower powered tube gear. I really think the Harbeths will be fine with that amp, though.

Great looking speakers John.

I'm surprised at how good they sound. I'm still dealing with a brightness issue in this room. The walls multiple walls of glass are not helping..I may need to get some curtains. I'll put them over the windows that face the Hyatt..there's nothing worth seeing that happens in those windows anyway, haha.

As some others have mentioned, you should definitely try to audition some DeVore speakers with the Leben. They are said to be a perfect match.

I've read that, as well, in addition to the Harbeths being a good match. The DeVores are a good deal more expensive, and that will have to wait. Right now I just want to enjoy this incrementally. The DeVores are high on the list of things to hear, though.

John, if you can make it down here Saturday in the am, we will be listening to Harbeths, Devores, Lebens and other such stuff.

I posted on the thread you started a while back...I'm unfortunately going to be in Los Angeles for work Fri-Sun. I would really rather be in St. Louis listening to Devore, Harbeth and Leben than in a casting studio in LA. Have fun and let the rest of us know how things sound, if you could. Sorry that I can't make it, I really am.

Casting studio? Is there a couch in there?

cubdog

Its not as glamorous as anybody would think. Yeah, there's a couch. With me, an art director, director, casting director, and producer on it. Probably eating potato chips. We are looking at models, though, so that part will be fun.
