Lets See All Them Axes

Get well soon!

Cheers,
Mark
Thanks. Had a diverticulitis flareup start in June, I thought it was the same as I’d been dealing with since I was 25, so I adjusted accordingly. It sort of got better, but not really and it started taking me down earlier in the day, the symptoms mingling with chronic pain from injuries long ago, an concussion syndrome, which I’d been dealing with for a while. I’d get tired and my memory & cognition would go out the window, so I’d quit after an hour or two. August 2, it got really bad & o went on a liquid diet; gf came home early from a cruise with her sisters. By Labor Day weekend, she’d made me go to the er, I was getting septic and they put me on iv antibiotics for the holiday, plus two weeks of the worst I’ve ever experienced. It never really got better and I finished a second round of antibiotics last week. I’m doing a little better, but I’m still struggling with food and my energy levels are low. I can’t walk without aid, I ended up making a shillelagh/walking stick/cane since they really don’t make mobility aids for people who are 6’8. 6 blocks or about a half mile is my limit, then I need to rest. I ultimately lost 50 pounds, a lot of it muscle mass and am recovering from malnutrition and scurvy from not being able to eat for nearly 3 months. I’m 55 going on 80 as far as my health goes rn. Hopefully I get better, I’d like to get back to work, if only to keep my mind and body occupied, but also because making guitars is really enjoyable.

I bought this at a yard sale Saturday for $200.
Cool, heavy, and loud !
"Republic" brand, an import.

That's pretty neat, kind of a Style O ~ Duolian mash-up.

How does it play and, more importantly, sound?

Do we know whence this Republic branded resophonic geetar was (likely) manufactured?

One more thing: @ the time you found/purchased it, was it "tuned", and if yes, was it an Open tuning or in Basic Standard?

I was working at Gordon Miller Music at the time which was about 40 minutes from the original 7th street building in Annapolis where they were being made before the Stevensville plant. Paul was a regular visitor at our store....This was the first one that was delivered to our store. Paid $ 914.00 ( still have the hang tag.)

You in Chicago ... I see the North Side Ball Club's logo on a cap.

The 1965 Leo > CBS Stratocaster: It still has its little ashtray!

With you on the PUP switch for the mid Seventies Lester ... I've several over the years (still have one, but only one), and in every case have swapped out the Mini HB PUPs for P-90s ... and, like yours, the creme colored, never black.

Had this one since around 1970, my first "real" (ie, Fender or Gibson) electric geetar. It is a blend of '62 and '63 appointments, all original, purchased by my paternal grandmother from Hubert Sumlin (my teacher), who got it (for me) from Johnny Laws. This geetar and I have never been apart over the last 56-ish years. It has been to Europe, East and Central Asia, Middle East, and now Africa. And all the F* over the USA.

The story I read is that Heritage came from a bunch of left over people and machines from the original Gibson factory in Kalamazoo, Michigan. This one is Korina from about 2000. It had the huge Grover Imperial tuners but I changed them.

What I really want to find is a Shell Pink MIJ 60's Strat. Had one, sold it, have been kicking myself ever since.

It plays great. It just needed the truss rod tightened a bit. Neck is nice and straight. Action is fine for an acoustic.
The sound is so cool, just what you'd expect from a metal body....Loud, brash, mostly mids and highs that cut thru , with that constant underlying reverb inside the body.
Round neck model, standard tuning.
Really really fun to play. Weighs about 9 lbs.

Republic brand are imports, 'designed' and imported by an interest in Texas. I looked at their current offerings. None of them have my body shape with the etchings. Must be an older model. Hard to tell, I can't find a single marking anywhere on the instrument. No info other than "Republic' on the headstock.

You would like it :)

Ping me if you ever wanna let it go. I love etched-bodied steel round neck resophonics with the round, not triangular (National Styles 1-3) style diaphragms.

PS -- Got many many more to post up, ranging from 1930s Gibson and Martin acoustics to circa 50s and 60s Fender and Gibson electrics, including jazz boxes and solid bodied stuff. No kooky stuff, just Strats, Teles, Lesters, a few Vees, more Firebirds, ES 175s, Johnny Smiths, and Super 400s.

What year is that silverface Champ (or Vibro-Champ)?

That's a '68 reissue vibro-champ. Tube driven tremolo and digital hall reverb. Its a great little amp.
